After starting third in an FIM Supersport 300 World Championship race Sunday, Kawasaki rider Ana Carrasco made a wild pass for the lead in the last stretch of the race. In doing so, she became the first woman to win a world championship motorcycle race by less than a tenth of a second over second and third place.

Carrasco, a 20-year-old rider from Spain, regularly competes in Supersport 300, a support series for the Superbike World Championship. She’s currently seventh in the championship standings, and was in second when the field rounded onto the final stretch of track at Algarve International Circuit in Portugal.

Carrasco did what we stock-car-loving Americans like to call a “” just seconds before the finish line in the 11-lap race, crossing it .053 seconds of second-place Alfonso Coppola, who sat on pole for the race, and .062 seconds ahead of third-place finisher Marc Garcia.
