Some days, man. Forgot the milk. Garage door opener doesn’t work. When is it all going to turn around?
I don’t think this is a “typical” afternoon for Ultra4 champion Loren Healy, but it sure is fun to watch.
That savagery on wheels is called the Red Dragon, a 4WD racing buggy with immense tires designed to compete in a series that makes you go rock crawling and 100 MPH hard-charging in the same lap.
Ultra4 runs all over the United States (and now Europe too) with their crowning event, , going down in California’s Johnson Valley around the beginning of every year.
Ultra4 cars are kind of like the offspring of a trophy truck and a Jeep. They have to be able top operate effectively in low and high speed situations and take a beating from every direction without dying.
A good one can be tossed on its side, roof or ass and keep racing as soon as the winch line is retracted again. For a little better breakdown, watch Driving Line’s Kristin Cline talk to Healy about his truck (car?) right here:
I’m not sure one could actually out-drag a Viper but holy crap those jumps.
This is basically exactly the kind of video , that doesn’t make it any less fun to watch though!
