The Honda CR-V is, in the States at least, one of Honda’s cash cows and its best-selling car here for five years running. It seems that, for the , Honda wants a little more cash out of it.

That’s because Honda released pricing for the 2023 CR-V on Tuesday and I regret to inform you that the LX trim, the current CR-V’s cheapest — starting at $26,800 — is no more. Instead the CR-V’s least expensive trim is now the EX, a two-wheel-drive car that starts at $31,110, or $4,310 more, though “only” $1,800 more than what the 2022 CR-V EX starts at. I put only in quotes there because $1,800 is still a pretty hefty price increase for a new model year, even if that new model year represents a new generation car.

Here all the prices via Honda, as well as fuel mileage ratings:

I will say that Honda should be lauded here for not trying to hide the destination charge, and even doing the math for you, though destination charges as a concept remain one of the biggest bullshit things about the automotive industry.

At any rate, the EX versions of the car have a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder that makes 190 horsepower, according to Honda, while the hybrid Sport versions have a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder and a combined output of 204 hp. Honda also says that the 2023 is slightly bigger and longer than the outgoing fifth-generation, and some have even referred to the 2023 CR-V as “better-looking.” Though let’s be honest, the buyers of this car will not be thinking about these things much, instead they’ll be merely trying to replace their current compact crossover.

The big news for CR-V, instead, won’t be this sixth-generation but whenever Honda bothers to make an all-electric CR-V. Then we’d be talking.

At $16,995, Could This 1976 Chevy Silverado 4X4 Shortbed Be a Truck You Might Long For?
Today’s C/K might be old, but its kit and condition mean it’s still got it going on. Let’s see if its price will also make it worth going out and getting. Ford’s Taurus has been described as the car that saved Ford. Hell, there’s even by that title. That may...

What is the Best-Looking Car You Can Buy for $50,000?
Let’s be real, friends—car purchases aren’t always rational. You can say you want about safety features and good fuel economy, but cars can be just as much of a fashion statement as a nice watch or a pair of jeans. So if you wanted exotic car looks but don’t have...

What an Electric London Taxi Is Like to Drive
Providing passage for the tired, tipsy, and busy, the Black Cab is as much a part of foggy London’s furniture as the red phone boxes no one uses. Thing is, the cabs you’re used to seeing aren’t very efficient, comfortable, or spacious. So the LEVC (London Electric Vehicle Company) TX...

At $6,000, Could This Shabby Chic 1991 Lotus Elan Get Some of Your British Racing Green?
While it may share its name with a venerated and desirable ancestor, today’s Elan shares little else. Let’s see if this bedraggled edition is priced commensurate with its station and condition. While it didn’t fair as badly as did Monday’s Taurus SHO, yesterday’s still couldn’t get a pass at its...

God Can Always Track You Down and Kill You, but in a 300 Horsepower Toyota Camry You Get a Pretty Good Running Start
I spent a week in a nearly $40,000 with a red leather interior and 301 horsepower. It is one of the best cars on sale today. I’d call it an instant classic but for two minor flaws. ( Toyota wanted me to drive the new Camry so bad that they...

2019 Toyota Supra: The King Is Back And Good Enough To Hunt Porsches
It’s been a long time coming. It has been 25 years since the launch of the last , way back in 1993. The internet was barely out of diapers back then, and all you really needed in life was a manual gearbox, a turbocharged 2JZ engine, a gigantic hoop spoiler...
