Thirteen years ago, meant to evoke memories of the classic . It had subtle gray paint, a ducktail spoiler, and a unique hood and double-bubble roof. It was called the Sport Classic, and it teased North American enthusiasts with thoughts of what could be.

Not any more. For 2023, the 911 Sport Classic comes to North America.

Just as the 2010 Sport Classic was largely based on the Carrera S, the 2023 Sport Classic is based on the Turbo S — though, with its comparatively limited 543 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque (down 97 and 148 from the Turbo S, respectively) it seems closer in spec to the 911 Turbo. Unlike both, however, the Sport Classic will only be available with a seven-speed manual gearbox.

Back are the ducktail spoiler, double-bubble roof, and unique hood, though this time each piece is made from carbon fiber-reinforced plastic. The rear fenders are similarly unique to the Sport Classic, lacking the intakes placed ahead of the rear wheels on the Turbo and Turbo S. Instead, air is pulled in from just ahead of the spoiler, like in Porsches of old.

But while the Sport Classic’s exterior upgrades are nice, the interior is a masterpiece. Light leather and houndstooth upholstery, paired with wood accents, make for a cockpit that finally shows the up. Porsche will also sell you a Sport Classic with plain black leather, but know that if you tick that option box I will personally hunt you down and demand that you apologize. In this house, we respect houndstooth.

The 2023 911 Sport Classic will correct its predecessor’s gravest error by coming to the United States, but Porsche will only build 1,250 cars globally. Pricing hasn’t yet been announced, but this is a limited-run Porsche that includes the opportunity to purchase a fancy watch. If you’re in the market, the cost won’t matter.

For $11,995, go topless on the Riviera
The sixth generation of Buick's Riviera, represented several firsts for GM's personal coupe - first front wheel drive platform, first Indy pace car, and first convertible. Today's Riviera is one of those drop tops, but does its price need to drop as well? Of course being both fast and furious...

For $29,888, drop an f-bomb
Buying one of the F-Bomb Camaros certified to have appeared in The Fast & Furious 4 might be da-bomb. But when you find out today's car is not the 1,500-hp twin turbo version, you might just drop an f-bomb of your own. Wesley Morris, film critic for the Boston Globe,...

For $26,500, this LS1-powered 280Z is kind of a drag
The Datsun Z-car and LS1 engine go together like maple syrup and waffles, however unknowable build quality can make buying one a sticky situation. Today's Canadian Z is claimed to be mint, but does its price require owning one? What is it with the English and appending ‘eee' to the...

For $17,500, this Defender 90 will never do 90
The Land Rover Defender is like a Jeep for the tweedy crowd. Today's 90 TDI is more than just tweedy, it's also tweety bird yellow. So now that Osama bin Hidin' is Osama bin Livin' some of you thought that yesterday's that was done up to look like a hearse...

For $11,000, never stray far from home
They say home is where you find it, and with today's GMC Motor Home, you could toss out the welcome mat damn near anywhere. Does its price however mean that while its lights may be on, nobody's home? Yesterday was and in celebration of the Battle of Puebla a lot...

For $3,500, the answer my friend is blowin’ in the Scirocco
Volkswagen's first spate of watercooled cars - discounting the K70 - were all named after winds. The sportiest of those was the Scirocco, and today's MkII GTI looks as though it could still run like the wind. The question however is, does its price blow? Speaking of blowing, the draft...
