Somehow, the maniacs at Mopar have found a way to get you even more speed for less cash. The new 797 horsepower, will have a starting price of $69,650, and the regular Hellcat gains an extra 10 ponies with a $5,000 price cut. Not bad all around.

You may already know that the Hellcat Redeye is the Challenger Hellcat that’s been partially possessed by the ; it shares the 6.2-liter V8 engine with a massive 2.7-liter supercharger along with an upgraded fuel injection system and strengthened pistons. The Redeye will be able to crank out 797 HP and 707 lb-ft of torque. This isn’t that far off the Demon’s 840 HP rating, but is a bit shy of the 770 lb-ft.

However, with a starting price that is $15,345 cheaper than the Demon and a claimed 0-60 time of about 3.4 seconds, I don’t think too many folks will be complaining about the Redeye.

Of course, if you are the type of person that says, “I need an excessive amount of power, but alms 800 HP might be too much,” the Hellcat might be more your speed—is now rated at a sensible, pragmatic 717 HP and 656 lb-ft of torque. You can pick up one of those muscle machines for $58,650.

If there’s another 700+ HP car from the factory for less than $60,000, I can’t think of it offhand.

The Challenger has had some nice upgrades over the years, but it’s still the same ancient rear-wheel drive platform underneath. But while crosstown rivals like the Mustang and Camaro have become more modern and well-rounded performance cars, the Challenger most embodies the muscle car ethos the best, which is to look badass and smoke some tires—and on the relative cheap, too.
