The Best Resale List For 2018 Is Basically All Trucks And A Rally Car
The Best Resale List For 2018 Is Basically All Trucks And A Rally Car-November 2024

When it comes to the overall cost of a vehicle, the sale price is only part of the equation. You need to factor in resale, and how much value your car will lose. Some drop slower than others, and according to , these 2018 trucks, SUVs, and an all-wheel-drive sedan will be your best bets to minimize depreciation.

The majority of this list will not be surprising as Toyota’s 4x4s round off the top three. Anyone that has ever tried to shop for a Tacoma, Tundra or 4Runner in the second-hand market will tell you how bonkers some of the used prices can be.

It is curious why the Tundra outranks the 4Runner, even though they have identical 60-month residuals but the 4Runner retains 65.8 of its resale while the Tundra is just slightly under at 64.7 percent. We reached out to Kelly Blue Book for clarification on those rankings.

Also interesting is that the ‘Yotas outlast even the legendarily-fanatical Wrangler resale. It’s not just a Jeep thing.

As for the other choices, the big trucks from Chevy and Ford are constantly in demand for used car buyers. Missing from the list, by contrast, are the half-ton offerings from Ram. You will see a fairly significant gap in the pre-owned prices on Ram trucks compared to the Chevrolet/GMC 1500 series and F-150 models.

The Honda Ridgeline is a nice surprise here, despite not being a “real truck” for some folks. It likely holds value thanks to its Honda reputation for durability. And of course, we have the WRX which is the only car to make the list, but sticks with the overall theme of how quality AWD/4WD vehicles maintain value.

Would You Pay $59,998 For Eddie Van Halen’s 1990 Ferrari 348ts?
Today's Ferrari is said to have once been owned by the rock guitar legend Edward Van Halen. You'll need to decide if that provenance, along with some other factors means its price also totally rocks. If it weren't for the fact that he is very much alive, Herbert Hartge would...

For $3,950, Is This 1989 Peugeot 505 Wagon The One?
The seller of today's Peugeot claims it's the "one to have." It is a pretty interesting ride even if you aren't a Francophile, but will its price have you saying Merci or Merde? Disneyland once had this Circle-Vision film called America the Beautiful which showed audiences highlights of the United...

Americans may have a hard time trying to buy today's 5.0 M-Coupe by Hartge, but that doesn't mean they can't Google an exchange rate and see just how much they should care about what they're missing. Small European car, big American V8. That's a combination that's been winning hearts and...

Would You Pay $4,750 For This 1993 Mercedes Benz 600SEL?
Today's Mercedes is claimed to have at one time been big in Japan. It is in fact big everywhere goes, and since it's here now and for sale, we'll need to decide if its price makes it a big deal. When Mercedes introduced their W140 flagship in 1990 journalists of...

For $12,000, Will This 1988 Porsche 944’s V8 Quell The Haters?
One of the original complaints about Porsche's 924 was that it lacked enough power to properly represent the brand, and the company's answer to that was the 944. Today's 944 wanted even more and so its builder has looked outside the brand, to Chevy. Will this LT1-powered Porsche also power...
