The Best Resale List For 2018 Is Basically All Trucks And A Rally Car
The Best Resale List For 2018 Is Basically All Trucks And A Rally Car-July 2024

When it comes to the overall cost of a vehicle, the sale price is only part of the equation. You need to factor in resale, and how much value your car will lose. Some drop slower than others, and according to , these 2018 trucks, SUVs, and an all-wheel-drive sedan will be your best bets to minimize depreciation.

The majority of this list will not be surprising as Toyota’s 4x4s round off the top three. Anyone that has ever tried to shop for a Tacoma, Tundra or 4Runner in the second-hand market will tell you how bonkers some of the used prices can be.

It is curious why the Tundra outranks the 4Runner, even though they have identical 60-month residuals but the 4Runner retains 65.8 of its resale while the Tundra is just slightly under at 64.7 percent. We reached out to Kelly Blue Book for clarification on those rankings.

Also interesting is that the ‘Yotas outlast even the legendarily-fanatical Wrangler resale. It’s not just a Jeep thing.

As for the other choices, the big trucks from Chevy and Ford are constantly in demand for used car buyers. Missing from the list, by contrast, are the half-ton offerings from Ram. You will see a fairly significant gap in the pre-owned prices on Ram trucks compared to the Chevrolet/GMC 1500 series and F-150 models.

The Honda Ridgeline is a nice surprise here, despite not being a “real truck” for some folks. It likely holds value thanks to its Honda reputation for durability. And of course, we have the WRX which is the only car to make the list, but sticks with the overall theme of how quality AWD/4WD vehicles maintain value.

Imagine Having This Much Money
Imagine Having This Much Money
Let’s have a thought exercise, everyone. Close your eyes and imagine, say, that you didn’t regularly take photos of sale prices at grocery stores just in case they ring up incorrectly at the register. Pretend, even, that you instead had enough money to buy that very grocery store. What...

At $18,100, Could This Lemon-Law 1993 Dodge Viper be a Totally Sweet Deal?
State lemon laws give buyers of seemingly un-repairable vehicles legal recourse to get out of them. Today’s Viper is just such a lemon law car, but is it priced low enough to make lemonade? I have to say that the response to Friday’s proved surprisingly… well, electric. It was...
