The Cadillac ATS-V: Is It As Good As We First Thought?
The Cadillac ATS-V: Is It As Good As We First Thought?-February 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:09:51

The is supposed to be extremely quick, grippy on the road and track, and, above all else, highly enjoyable to drive. Nearly three years after its debut, we thought it deserved a reevaluation.

(Cadillac put me in a 2018 ATS-V for four days last weekend, which I used to zoom around Manhattan and points east. No money changed hands and it was nice to have a car for a weekend if also a bit of pain since I already own one (1) car and minding another was occasionally stressful.)

Here’s the weird thing about this particular car. Nearly everyone on the Jalopnik staff has driven it by now. Unlike the pubs where most staffers are located in, say, Ann Arbor or Los Angeles, we’re all over the place—we’re in New York, LA, Texas, North Carolina, Detroit and more. But strangely, all of us have had seat time in this thing, which is rare.

Alanis King it on the track. David Tracy . Kristen Lee also . Contributor Andrew T. Maness . Patrick George . David Tracy its cooling system. Shooter Kurt Bradley . Michael Ballaban it in our nation’s capital. Raphael Orlove and Michael Roselli in Pebble Beach. I’m probably the last person on staff to have driven the ATS-V, and that’s largely because I’ve only been here a few months.

So I struggled to find something new to say about this 465 horsepower, twin-turbo V6, budget BMW M4 fighter with impeccable handling and an interior that feels only slightly better than your average Chevrolet. I guess for me, it all boiled down to this: Is the Cadillac ATS-V still ?

Yes. It was extremely good.

There's Only One Thing Wrong With The Nissan Leaf
If there’s one thing to explain how the has become a perfectly viable modern electric car. Grown up from its early days of sub-100 miles of range, it’s that the most egregious thing wrong with it is the armrest. Yes, the armrest. Having a bad armrest be the plainest...

The 2022 Mercedes-AMG SL: This Is It
Two doors. A folding top. Odd, elongated headlights. A red reveal color. I’m talking about the new Mercedes-AMG SL, but you’d be forgiven for thinking I meant the BMW Z4. Even if you saw them side by side, I wouldn’t blame you for mixing them up — they just...
