About this time last year I penned a blog entitled “.” Honestly, I didn’t really believe the “at least” part of that headline; that was what we in the business like to call “hedging,” when you have no faith in something you’ve just written but don’t want to look like an idiot at an indeterminate time in the future. And hey, hedging is worth it every now and then, because wouldn’t you know the is sticking around for the 2023 model year. Hooray.

Unsurprisingly, we all almost collectively didn’t notice. Stellantis published a on September 1 announcing what’s new for the 2023 300. It has one option — the SafetyTec Plus Group, which now comes optional on the base 300 Touring model. Last year’s big addition, if you need reminding, .

With the SafetyTec bundle comes a 180-amp alternator and 276-watt amplifier, six-speaker Alpine sound system, advanced brake assist, rain-sensing wipers, LaneSense lane departure warning with lane keep assist, ParkSense front and rear park assist, auto high-beam control, full-speed forward collision warning with active braking and adaptive cruise control (ACC) with stop.

On the 2022 Touring L trim, the SafetyTec package cost $2,395. Offering it on the base version as well brings the two closer together, though the Touring L adds luxuries like leather seats and an exterior appearance group with lots of glossy black accents, the sort every 300 owner seems to want.

2023 may hold one additional surprise for Chrysler’s sedan, however, in the form of a “special edition.” The press release says only that information on that nameless model will be “announced later.” Next week’s may provide an opportunity. On Tuesday, the brand , promising the “bring the power in 2023.”

You’d have to imagine it’s a send-off, right? After all, 2023 will mark . There’s no need to hedge anymore — the venerable, ancient 300 is finally meeting its end, and it’s best we come to terms with that sooner rather than later. The best way for Chrysler to soothe our grief, I think we can all agree, is by stuffing a Hellcat in the final edition.

Here’s Why Subaru Thinks It Can Charge You $50,000 For The WRX STI Type RA
“Not a chance.” That’s how most of you will react when reading the headlines talking about the $50,000 . Before slamming your fingers onto your rage-spit-covered keyboard and typing out your 2,500-word magnum opus of hatred, allow me a few words to explain how this is basically Subaru’s own Camaro...

The 2018 Jaguar E-Pace Is Pretty But It’s No Performance Car
The is a noble effort in the quest to make the small crossover SUV/sports car mashup aesthetic work. It’s decent to drive, too. But don’t get too carried away convincing yourself that this is a family-friendly ; the E-Pace’s value proposition is more about style than substance. ( Jaguar’s people...

At $8,995, Would You Make This 1990 Nissan 240SX Your Homie?
The ad for today’s S13 claims that the car has never-ever strayed from its Southern California home. Let’s see if this local yokel is priced to now see the world. Do you recall when Forrest Gump, in the movie of the same name, decided “for no particular reason” to go...

The 2018 Kia Stinger GT Is The Real Deal
In car reviews, recounting how much “better” the Korean automakers are than they were in decades past has become painfully cliché. It doesn’t need to be said that Hyundai and Kia make world-class cars these days and have for some time, except in one area: performance. This is what the...

Here Are The Cars You Should Buy New Instead Of Used In 2018
I’ve never subscribed to the “always buy used cars” philosophy, but some folks are still convinced that due to depreciation, pre-owned models are the smartest financial purchase. This study from reveals for some cars this year, the used version doesn’t save you that much. Recently, , and naturally many of...

At $5,200, Could This 2001 BMW 325Xi Have Any Miles Left In It?
Today’s 325Xi has over 281,000 miles on the clock. That’s farther than a trip to the moon, and this Bimmer doesn’t have Mission Control backing it up. Maybe the price will make it worth lighting this candle. Tell me, what’s the happiest song you can think of? Is it Y.M.C.A....
