The sells well enough, but the automaker has promised to push the next generation to a new level of performance. A new report indicates they’re going to do all that with a new turbocharged six-cylinder engine.

claims the next TLX Type S will get a new 3.0-liter V6 to replace the current 3.5-liter V6, which currently manages 290 horsepower. Here’s more from C&D:

Underpinning the new model will be an all-new unibody designed exclusively for the TLX that ditches struts for a control-arm front suspension to improve handling and feel. The standard TLX powertrain will borrow the 10-speed automatic transmission and turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four from the current-generation but adds optional all-wheel drive. The Type S will bring some potency to the mix with a new turbocharged V-6, likely displacing 3.0 liters, that will provide a massive bump in power over the outgoing 3.5-liter V-6's 290 horses.

I’m excited for a new legacy of sporty Acuras, and this engine is expected to make over 300 horsepower, which is probably enough!

I’d say Acura has already done enough to bring the design, at least by the looks from the TLX concept car, and considering what a knockout the new Accord was, I don’t think we have anything to worry about here. But of course this is a rumor, and it’s a V6 not an inline-six, and we’ve got a lot going on in the world right now!

Spend Even Half An Hour Looking Into Auto Safety And Everything Gets Upsetting
Yesterday I bumped into another old story that knocks around the car world: In the 1960s, Porsche feared that upcoming roof crush rules in America would outlaw convertibles, and with an integrated roll hoop to sidestep it. The story goes that these rules never came into place. That’s both...

Dude Spotted Just Hanging Out On The Back Of A Truck Going Down The Highway
I feel like I’ve seen videos similar to this before, where a person is improbably hanging on the back of a swiftly-moving vehicle, and the most notable quality these people seem to have is a sort of preternatural calmness. Just look at this dude here, s: he looks completely...

New Crossovers Killed The Cool Hyundai Elantra GT Hatchback
The hatchback will not be getting the cool angular redesign its sedan sibling just got. Instead, it will be dead after the 2020 model year, because a bunch of new small crossovers started outselling it. If you’ve recently come across a new Hyundai Venue or new Hyundai Kona, both...

NHTSA Faces Audit As 36,000 Americans Still Die Annually In Crashes
The way the Feds regulate auto safety has been a shitshow for a good long while, and now it’s facing an audit. How much faith you put in that audit, is another question. All that and more in for August 12, 2020. In 2009, 33,883 Americans . If you...
