Everyone loves Formula One's fancy because it shows the exact role that heat and friction play during racing. Also, it looks really, really neat. Now we get to see what it looks like when it's applied to touring car racing.

This video is from an infrared camera shot of the as it rolls into the pits for a tire swap. It's short, but you get to see the heat signatures coming from the tires and the M4's exhaust pipes.

And you better believe it's hot. BMW says the car's carbon brakes can heat up to nearly 1,500 degrees Fahrenheit. The drivers themselves have to endure temperatures of 140 degrees inside the car as well, and the tires can be fitted at more than 200 degrees.
