This Custom 1989 Isuzu Trooper Could Be Yours For $6,500!
This Custom 1989 Isuzu Trooper Could Be Yours For $6,500!-November 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:10:05

Frankenstein's monster was one of a kind, and so is today's Isuzu Trooper. Could its price Price to be the kind that might easily make this truck the one for a new owner?

Rice, rice, baby. Yes, yesterday's did have a number of modifications that are usually reserved for Hondas, Acuras, and their ilk, but that just made it more eclectic and desirable, right? Apparently not, as the custom sled got roasted pretty badly in the comments, and its price proved equally as unpopular ending up in a decisive 75% Crack Pipe loss.

The ad for today's Nice Price or Crack Pipe custom Volvo S60R claims the reason for the sale is …

Truth be told, yesterday's result was pretty tragic… for the seller. That doesn't mean however that we're going to give up on candidates that are a single individual's personal and unique vision - which they now want someone else to love - we're going to double down.

This started out as a rock-stock 4-door 4x4 wagon with styling that was somewhere in between the look of the original Range Rover, and that of Jeep's old school Cherokee. This one has had that wagon portion unceremoniously chopped off for a look that's reminiscent of a Chevy Avalanche, Ford Explorer Sport Trac, or Lamborghini LM002. Actually, I don't know if it was unceremoniously performed, it could have been part of some ritual sacrifice like an Aztec beheading or circumcision for all I know.

Now, this orange four door is open to the elements out back - sort of like a union suit with an unbuttoned flap - and that lends it a funky look, and lets its rear-seat occupants enjoy the elements and exhaust. Of course, that raises both weather-related and theft issues so the truck does come with a custom bed and back end cap that seals the deal. That also appears to make rear-ward visibility a challenge, but seriously, we're all too focused on the past and not the future as it is.

Other aspects of this truck as offered: there is the claim that there is no rust, and that the truck has always seen a garage when not on the road. It has 30,000Km on the clock, which is about 18K to us Americans. The ad says the engine - which looks to be Isuzu's 120-horse 4ZE1 four-pot - has been rebuilt, which is also a plus.

The body - aside from the missing skull cap - looks to be in fine shape, and if you're looking for bling, well the wheels bring it home in spades. Custom bumpers hang on each end in all their un-finished aluminum glory.

There is also the description in the ad of race seats in the front, however no interior pics are provided so it's impossible to tell just what race they might be. The back seat still folds flat, as the ad says, to make a bed for camping or alfresco ugly-bumping.

The seller says the truck is worth $10K but that he will take $6,500. That's in Loonies so should you be more inclined to the Benjamins consider it to be just over $5,900 American. What's your take on this Custom Isuzu at that price? Should this Canadian custom easily find a new home for that much? Or, does that price make this a pooper trooper?

You decide!

Calgary , or go if the ad disappears.

H/T to Don Carruthers Den Hoed for the hookup!

Only 23% of you felt that was really worth $100,000 yesterday, and value calculation really is a tough call on a presidential car when the ex-owner isn't even president yet (and there are no photos of him actually driving the thing). Today we're going to explore the concept of rarity;...
