This Indie Shop Is Producing A Line Of 'Brand New' 1956 Ford Trucks-July 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:13:20

The 1956 Ford F-100 is one devastatingly pretty pickup. Hot rod builder Bodie Stroud agrees, and has decided to start selling his own iteration of this classic as the X-100 with "modern suspension, a brand new Ford Racing motor and transmission, and the interior and gauges from a late-model F-150."

It's a similar concept to ; old-school style with new-school tech and execution quality of the highest order.

Jonathan Ward's latest masterpiece out of the ICON factory is a classic five-window pickup. While…

Stroud's been working with cars forever and has run an LA-based custom car shop called Bodie Stroud Industries Inc. since 2007. Their speciality is extreme restomods like , which he added a frame to and repowered the hell out of. That build was clean enough to garner Mario Andretti's personal blessing.

Ford's Boss Mustang is arguably one of the greatest American muscle cars ever built. That's why…

The X-100 is a little different; but looks like it's executed with the same level of professionalism. Bodie Stroud Industries will be (re)-building a limited production run of these trucks; which basically means they're making a few on spec to sell as-is and hope folks will start placing orders. Price starts at $180,00 and goes up... since you'd be buying this from a renown custom shop, you can pretty much spec it any way you can imagine.

Stroud will start every X-100 with a clean F-100 body then chop the hood, extend the body, make room for a larger rear window, round-off door corners, and fit a one-piece tubbed bed all on top of a custom made chassis.

Front suspension is fully independent with a four-link setup in back and a 9" rear axle. Obviously, quite a few suspension components are specifically fabricated for the truck. Power rack-and-pinion steering has been added as well as modern performance tires on staggered wheels (19x8.5" front and 20x15" rear). Behind all four of those steamrollers are 13" brake rotors with six-piston calipers.

Engine options are a 412 horsepower 5.0 Ford Racing Coyote crate engine or a 630 horse supercharged 5.0 "Aluminator." Either one is paired to a Ford 4R70W automatic.

The dashboard is custom fabricated to keep the classic look but fit Ford F-150 King Ranch gauges, and adjustable bucket seats replace the old bench. A Ford shifter is plopped in the center console and '48 Chevy taillights finish off the exterior.

Even if street trucks aren't your thing, you've got to respect how seamless this restomod looks.
