It’s just another unfortunate sign of the times. This little 1995 Porsche 993 911 Carrera Cab has changed hands three times. In that time, its selling price has ballooned from in February 2021, to $165,000 in January 2022.

The car was also sold once in between these two sales on for $66,000, back in May of 2021. That sale isn’t truly insane, though it is a nice profit for the owner who purchased it just three months prior. Bring a Trailer usually commands a premium and this is a clean, pretty little car.

But, what could possibly make the price then jump nearly $100,000 in less than a year at ? Is the market that cuckoo bananas? Well, unfortunately for you and me, it is.

Obviously, the car has a lot going for it. It has a clean CarFax and a tidy interior, plus an unusual paint choice – adventure green metallic. You can even grip grain on the steering wheel – which is exceedingly rare for a 911. But 165 grand? I don’t know. I just don’t know. The car isn’t a special edition or a Turbo. It’s just a base C2S. It doesn’t even have super low mileage, with over 63,000 miles on the clock.

It remains to be seen what kind of impact this car is going to have on the rest of the 993 and 911 market as a whole. It’s hard to imagine this car is going to be the new standard bearer for convertible 993s – a car that has never been worth this much.

This car was sold at Barrett-Jackson’s latest Scottsdale auction – an auction that saw dozens of eye-watering results. In fact, it was the most lucrative auction in the company’s history. Between 1,857 vehicles and 1,153 pieces of automotive memorabilia sold for more than exchanged between hands.

So, is this the top pressure point on a used car bubble that’s about to pop, or is this just another example of car values getting further and further away from enthusiasts like you and me?

The 2014 Corvette Stingray Is Amazing Even In The Rain
The 2014 Corvette Stingray Is Amazing Even In The Rain
I finally figured it out. The isn't from 2014 at all. It's actually the 2024 Corvette. General Motors has a time machine, and they use it to ship these cars back to our era after building them with future technology. That must be it. That's the only way I can...

For $2,500, Wake Up Rip Van Volvo
What’s the longest you’ve ever slept? Today’s Volvo has that beat, as it’s been inactive for two decades. Will that fact make its price a rude awakening? Have you ever had a really big poop, one that’s so gargantuan and peppered with seemingly indestructible corn that you wanted to share...

2014 Cadillac CTS: The Jalopnik Review
I'll just say it. The is easily the best sedan General Motors has ever built. Ever. (: Cadillac wanted me to drive the 2014 CTS so bad that they gave me considerable seat time in both the 2.0T and the Vsport. I also definitely didn't go on a dirt road...

Lamborghini's Sinister Gallardo Super Trofeo Is Terrifyingly Amazing
Lamborghini has nothing close to a racing heritage in its past. But that doesn't mean it's too late to start. The Super Trofeo series is that start. And it's an absolutely incredible one. Here's what it's like to drive one of the fastest sports cars in the world. (: Lamborghini...

For $13,500, Snakes Alive!
For many cars being branded with a salvage title can mean the kiss of death to its potential to sell. You’ll need to determine if that’s the case with this Viper, or if its low, low price means that today death is only offering a peck on the cheek. If...

For $20,000, Oh Canada!
Over the years the cylinder count of BMW’s M5 models has risen like the encroaching sea. None however has had as many as today’s Canadian E34, for which you'll still need to decide whether its price needs to ebb somewhat. The M in BMW's M GmbH Group stands for Motorsport....
