This Super Clean 1991 Acura NSX Is Going For $185,000
This Super Clean 1991 Acura NSX Is Going For $185,000-November 2024

It makes me kind of sad that the new doesn’t seem to be super well-received by the Honda faithful, in large part because it’s so different by the beloved original. The new one is a high-tech spaceship, maybe the best handling car I have ever driven. But if the first NSX’s purity is more your speed, and you have about as much money to spend, here’s a clean 1991 one going for $185,000.

We all know that , as (some of) the millennials who grew up lusting after them actually acquire money to make their dreams come true. But in the case of the original NSX, which was never a cheap car in its day, we’ve now hit the point where at least one is about as expensive as the latest hybrid, twin-turbo all-wheel drive model. That car starts around $156,000 and .

If nostalgia’s more your bag, check out . It’s for a red 1991 model with a scant 1,733 miles on the odometer. One owner. Barely driven! From the listing, and pardon the punctuation here:

** THIS IS “NOT” A RESTORED NSX! * NOR is it SOME SILLY BARN FIND!! * THIS IS A 100%”ALL ORIGINAL” CA CAR. 100% AUTHENTIC and ORIGINAL OWNER 1ST YEAR PRODUCTION ACURA NSX #355 OFFERED TODAY with FULL DOCUMENTATION FROM DELIVERY NEW...TUCKED AWAY and LOVINGLY MAINTAINED in a CLIMATE CONTROLLED COLLECTION SINCE DRIVEN OFF THE SHOWROOM FLOOR SEPT 6th,1990.* MIGHT JUST BE A ONCE in a LIFETIME OWNERSHIP OPPORTUNITY to ADD to a SERIOUS COLLECTION?

You could do far worse as your daily driver. I’ve been , and in terms of handling, manual gearbox goodness, style, coolness and everyday livability, it absolutely lives up to the legend it has now. You won’t be winning many drag races with the 270 horsepower aluminum 3.0-liter V6, but that isn’t the point.

Still, is a super-clean, barely driven NSX good enough to warrant that $185,000 price tag, which is the Buy It Now price on this auction that ends Tuesday? I’m not sure. You could get a new McLaren for that much, or several cheaper cars, or, again, the new NSX.

It’s a dream car for somebody out there. I do hope whoever buys this thing actually drives it, because the NSX deserves to be put to good use.

Hat tip to Glenn K!

Ford's last upgrades to the back in 2010 gave engineers a platform on which to build the best Mustang ever. So that's exactly what they did. Yes, the and it's epic. Disclaimer: Ford wanted us to drive the and Boss 302 Laguna Seca so badly they flew me to Monterey,...

Patience is a virtue, and for the seller of today's BMW 535iM, who has been trying to unload his car for two years, his tenacity rivals that of the biblical Job. But, do good things come to those who wait? Yesterday there was no waiting on and fully 71% of...

Like Carroll Shelby before him, Steve Saleen is a former racer who has made a name for himself building performance cars. Today's Saleen Focus N2O may not have the cachet of Carroll's name, but is its price noteworthy? Steve Saleen started out racing Porsches in club events. He transitioned to...

Mazda used to say in their ads that while other cars go boing, boing boing, theirs go hmmmmm. Well, for today's RX7, that might need to be changed to hissssssss, because it rocks a Cobra V8. But will its price make you go hmmmmm? Yesterday's dropped not only its top,...

While advanced in design, Fiat's X1/9 was ephemeral in its execution, and few have stood the test of time. Today's '78 however has not only passed time's test, it went back for some alloy-rim extra credit. It turns out big willie style was a page of the Karma Sutra that...

When it comes to automotive artistic expression, Chevy's Suburban offers a generous canvas. Today's custom '98 may be more urban than suburban, but is its price a work of art? Poor Steve Saleen, first he chooses a monastic haircut that only serves to highlight his male pattern baldness, and then...
