Traffic Jams: Camp Cope — 'UFO Lighter'
Traffic Jams: Camp Cope — 'UFO Lighter'-April 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:12:09

Enjoy this masterpiece from Australian rock trio Camp Cope’s second album, 2018's How to Socialise & Make Friends. That record happens to — I was going to say 240, but my friend Lalita says it’s a 264. In either case, a great choice of car for a great collection of songs.

‘UFO Lighter’ is an excellent crash course in what has made Camp Cope singular and iconic in a very short amount of time: Georgia Maq’s incredible voice, Kelly-Dawn Hellmrich’s ability to make a bass guitar convey feelings I didn’t know were possible with that instrument and Sarah Thompson punctuating those emotional peaks all the while behind the drums. The group’s upcoming third record, , releases March 25.

Blip: Is That Who I Think It Is Driving?
This is a from a Dutch brochure for a German Ford Taunus from 1961, and every one of those facts makes this speculation fairly improbable, but that driver sure does look like Franklin Delano Roosevelt. And that could be Eleanor in the back there, too. ...

Everyone, Relax, I'm Here To Defend The Kia Soul
My valet slid down the fire pole to my solitude/Onanism pit all flustered and panicked and gibbering like a fool. A few well-timed slaps with one of the dampened Pontiac floormats I line the pit with brought him back to coherency, and he was able to spit out some...

I Have A Plan For Peugeot In The U.S.
Fiat Chrysler, following its merger with Groupe PSA, that it would not be bringing Peugeot back to the American market. That’s a shame, but maybe not really, because Peugeot is currently going upmarket and it probably wouldn’t have brought us the good small hatches. I have an idea, though:...
