The Silver State Classic is a simple event: the Nevada Department of Transportation shuts down 90 miles of State Route 318 every year for a bunch of gearheads to do top speed runs. Among the entrants are various hot rods, muscle cars and something like this 2006 Dodge NASCAR stock car running to a trap speed of 243 MPH.

The average speed this Dodge managed was a , which is close to but incredibly not the very fastest that anybody has run in this event.

Still, it sounds utterly, utterly wonderful.
