Supposedly leaked pictures of what could only be the upcoming next-gen unfortunately looks like it’s been attacked with an axe and beaten until swollen.

We love to hate the —a car that’s perfectly fine to drive but not so easy to look at, and its front-wheel drive completely flies in the face of everything BMW once was. That’s why there was so much hope riding on the new 2 Series Coupe, which is meant to keep its sports car lineage going.

“Wait a minute. Holy shit,” I said out loud in near-total disbelief as I walked up to my friend and

Pictures of the car in some kind of transport showed up on the , who claimed to have got them from a Facebook page:

The front end shows new headlights with an ugly notch headed towards, but not connected to, the kidney grilles, which are thankfully not the size and shape of an elephant’s head this time.

The rear shows a tall, awkward decklid, a strange trapezoidal black shape cutting into the sheetmetal up from the rear splitter for seemingly no reason, and taillights that look like discount Subaru replacement lights from a one-star eBay page.

I will say, though, that this 2 Coupe is better than the 2 Gran Coupe, but the margin is far closer than I ever imagined. I just hope this new look has great design refresh potential, and I’m glad we got the for as long as we did if this is what’s next.

You Know They Want This
You Know They Want This
If you want a glimpse at the future of BMW, don’t look at the hybrid i3 and i8. Don’t look at the new 3 Series. Gaze instead at the truck concept, an actual thing designed by real people that you know BMW wants to make. It is the natural...

Your Extremely Patriotic Acura NSX Wallpapers Are Here
Okay, so the original NSX isn’t an “American” car. The new one is; it was designed in America and built in Ohio. But this 4th of July weekend, I think we can give the first one a pass, since it had an Acura badge on our shores. Doesn’t that...

The Ford GT MkII Goes Out With a $1.2 Million Bang
Each night as I wander the city streets alone, consumed with thoughts of my own mortality and the wasted time I’ll never get back, I attempt to distract myself by pondering this instead: was the new a success? On one hand, it feels mostly famous for the drama around...

The 2020 Mercedes-AMG A45 S Is the Hottest Hatch With a Wholly Unnecessary and Very Good 416 Horsepower
For the last few years, we’ve had to simply make do with 300 to 350 horsepower as the expected gold standard for our best hot hatchbacks. How have we survived this long? How have we managed to exist in a world so devoid of pointless, excessive hatchback speed? Fortunately,...
