What Do You Want to Know About the Ram 1500 TRX?-March 2024

We may be in the midst of the worst in over a decade, but that didn’t stop me (a smart and rational person) from asking Stellantis for the keys to a 2022 Ram 1500 TRX to roadtrip for the weekend. Since they’re a bit kooky, like me, they obliged. Because of that, I’ll be taking the TRX down to Washington, D.C. for my little sister’s college graduation (congrats, Maddy).

Yes, you read that right. I’ll be piloting this 702 horsepower, 6,400 pound monstrosity to one of the busiest cities in the country just for fun. Automotive journalism is wild, folks. Let me tell ya.

Maybe I’ll even jump it over the . Whose to say?

We already know what the TRX is capable of, for almost every scenario except for actually living with it every day. How does this gas-guzzling behemoth handle and feel while cruising down the highway? Can it maneuver a tight parking lot? In my mind, these are the things most relevant to the TRX owner. The TRX owner is not off-roading this rig or getting it dirty in any way. They’re toddling around town eating miles (and gas) on the highway.

I’m going to be putting well over 500 miles on this beast, and before I write my review of it sometime next week, I wanna know what you maybe wanna know. Some things I can tell you from the get go: it’s fast, it’s loud, and it goes through gasoline like nothing I’ve ever seen before. (I hope there isn’t a leak?)

In my 45-ish mines of testing so far, I am averaging 8.6 miles per gallon.

The TRX is also incredibly comfortable, and you can look down upon other SUVs and pickups like the lesser beings they are. I’ve never felt anything like it. My “Flame Red” tester is pretty much loaded to the gills – with an MSRP of $91,725, including destination.

So, drop me a line in the comments. What do you want to know about the TRX?

Doesn't Every Truck Need A Flamethrower?
Doesn't Every Truck Need A Flamethrower?
Stand and fight, or run away? That's not a question most of us face each day, but big boy toymaker VWerks wants to make sure you'll have what you need to choose the former. Namely, a flame-throwing Dodge pickup and a .50-caliber-topped 1-ton Jeep. I got to drive both of...

For $16,000, Go On A Straight-Line Rampage
You can't just stick a two-story wing on any Mopar product and call it a Superbird, that dog won't hunt. Despite that, as today's dragster Dodge proves, you can drop in a massive mill and call it a day. But will its price turn this ‘bird' into a dog? Buying...

Jeep J12 Concept: First Drive
Jeep J12 Concept: First Drive
Ask any young boy to name their coolest car, they'll likely pick a Jeep or a truck. There's just something about both that hit all the right Cro-Magnon hot spots in any pre-pubescent boy's mind. But merge them together? Well, then you get possibly the greatest combination of utilitarianism and...

For $6,500, Is This The M3 For Thee?
While venerated, BMW's E30 M3 did lack certain features possessed by its later, and better performing, brethren. Today's E36 for example offers both a drop top and an. . . automatic transmission. Will that second item guarantee its price needs to down along with the top? Unsurprisingly, yesterday's toppled under...

For $5,500, Be Not So Mellow Yellow
Sweden and speedin' go together like girls and dragon tattoos, and today's Volvo 850 is a velocity-empathizing example of that company's Stockholm Syndrome. But while it's built to go fast is it priced to be passed? While applaudable in the audacity of its execution - tailgate-applied faux bullet holes in...

For $11,000, That’s Willys Trike!
If home invader Goldilocks had decided to also steal one of the Bears rides, she might have found Mamma Bear's minivan to have too many wheels, and Papa's Harley to have too few. If da' Bears also owned today's Willys home-built, she might have found it just right. Will you...
