What Feature Will You Suggest For The 2022 Hummer EV Edition 1?-July 2024

Image for article titled What Feature Will You Suggest For The 2022 Hummer EV Edition 1?

The 2022 GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 is a masterclass in “how ridiculous of a vehicle can we make,” and if its various and sundry absurd features aren’t enough for you, you’re encouraged to make your own suggestions about what you’d like a future Hummer EV to have. In fact, there’s a suggestion box built right into the gear selector.

This particular feature popped up in ’s recent review of a Hummer EV Edition 1 prototype, and I have been fully unable to stop thinking about it. What would I suggest? What would you, the fine readers of Jalopnik, suggest?

The Hummer EV already has a lot of features packed into it. The Edition 1 has a three-motor configuration that nets a frankly ridiculous 1,000 horsepower and a quoted 11,500 lb-ft of torque, which aptly described as perfect for towing the entire moon.

Other features include Crab Walk, which allows for diagonal movement around and over obstacles if you find yourself in a jam while off-roading (which is quite possible, given the obscene size of this vehicle), and Watts to Freedom, which is basically a kind of launch control that gets you from 0 to 60 in three seconds flat. There’s also adaptive air suspension that can lift to give you a little extra ground clearance in a pinch.

And then there’s the suggestion box. On DeMuro’s prototype, it doesn’t do anything, but in the future, it will allow buyers to tell Hummer just what it wants out of its EV. Whether those suggestions are added over-the-air or on future vehicles remains to be seen and likely depends on the nature of the upgrade in question.

But I want to know what features you would suggest. What wild and wacky concepts would you request? What feats do you wish you could accomplish behind the wheel of the Hummer EV Edition 1?

Personally, I’d love a self-destruct button. Some lapse of judgement has to take place to get you behind the wheel of a Hummer that weighs approximately 15 billion pounds, and once you realize the error of your ways, you’re going to want to find the quickest way to end your misery. Opening a black hole in the universe and sucking yourself into it would be a great way to go. Maybe Hummer can add that feature next time around.

But I’m passing the baton to you all. What feature are you adding?

McLaren Put A Windshield On The Car Known For Not Having A Windshield
Arguably the coolest car McLaren has built in the last two decades, the roofless Elva, is getting a follow-up. As you probably know, the Elva up to this point has been available without a windshield, including instead a small rectangular air deflector at the nose to push air up...

Cars In Virginia Are All Gooped Up
If you’re in Virginia, and you’ve been noticing your car is gooped, all gooped up, sticky, dripping with a sappy, goopy substance this spring, don’t worry. It’s just bugs shitting on it. No biggy. They’re called aphids and they’re going absolutely wild when it comes to shitting on stuff...

A TikToker Spreading Some Unfounded Car Decal Theories Is Going Viral
It seems like every time some dumb social media trend dies, it’s not actually gone for good. It’s only gone dormant in order to return later and clog up our screens another day. That’s what has happened in the infamous (not real) case of child traffickers using to mark...

Remember When Pimp My Ride Put a CT Scanner In An '84 Crown Vic?
Pimp My Ride was a wild TV show from the mid ’00s that would not only fix up, but wildly customize absolute beaters for people from the LA area. The crew put TVs in just about everything that could hold a TV (mud flaps, mirrors, visors, etc.) not to mention...

Blip: The Hatch Act
It’s Friday! The day I learned that this picture is not, in fact, a shot of the signing of the Hatch Act, which was from 1939, long before these For Taunuses existed. No wonder I got the “lowest AP History score ever recorded,” according to those assholes at The...

At $11,900, Could This 1983 Porsche 928 S Get You Out On A Grand Tour?
With the pandemic now ebbing across most of the country, we can once again turn our attention to grand touring. Today’s 928 S should be a grand tourer par excellence, but will its price tag have you planning on staying home. Think about the last time you yanked a...
