What Was The Worst You've Ever Been Screwed?
What Was The Worst You've Ever Been Screwed?-September 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:13:38

There are plenty of honest car mechanics, salespeople, and parts distributors out there. And then there are those who leave us screwed.

[Welcome back to , where we ask you to tell us your greatest stories of success and failure, then we pull the very best of them to share with the rest of the world.]

The worst I ever got screwed was when I ended up with in the back of a cop car for trying to get my Baja Bug towed back onto the road. All I had needed to do was get a tow from a shop up the road, but I ended up waiting on the side of the road for hours for a free tow that ended up costing four figures taking my car to an impound lot in a town I’d never heard of. The whole story is detailed if you’re curious, and I don’t mind talking about it because my heavenly State Farm agent got me reimbursed for the whole thing.

What was the worst you’ve ever been screwed?

I Ordered A Carbon-Fiber Roof For My Porsche 996 Turbo And I Might Throw Up A Little
I bought maybe the cheapest Porsche 996 Turbo—that’s right, —on the market a year ago, and I’ve mostly been happily stacking miles on the odometer since then. I have been working on making the car my own with a period-correct set of wheels, some extra carbon trim, and a...
