What's The Most Ridiculous Engine Swap You've Ever Seen?
What's The Most Ridiculous Engine Swap You've Ever Seen?-September 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:13:39

As an advocate of taking the beating heart out of an automotive donor and putting it in a smaller frame to make something downright supernatural, I simply adore engine swaps as one of the best bang for your buck mods in existence. What are some of the weirdest and most ridiculous swaps you’ve seen or attempted?

When you work on the internet as I do, you learn to darken your heart and take nothing personally because otherwise you’d never stop crying. However, sometimes I engage with my h8rs and offer up half-assed rebuttals to their often inane quandaries. One particular issue I had was with people talking about how was blasphemy, heresy, and worthy of nothing but scorn.

Apparently, an American powerplant in an iconic German car was simply too much to handle, and I can certainly appreciate that, as it’s an unconventional swap that does more to tank your resale value than a custom Justin Bieber wrap ever could.

However, that’s not the point. The reason you’d change a car’s engine is to get more power, more efficiency, and a different exhaust note. It’s essentially a whole new car for the price of one component. The pros, especially in the case of the V8 Porsche 996, far outweigh the cons.

Having said that, what are some bonkers swaps that you’ve done, or seen hanging around your local PepZone or AutoBoys? Write ‘em in the comments below and I’ll do my best to not convince my wife that we need another project car.

Update: I'm Still Burning Money

I Ordered A Carbon-Fiber Roof For My Porsche 996 Turbo And I Might Throw Up A Little
I bought maybe the cheapest Porsche 996 Turbo—that’s right, —on the market a year ago, and I’ve mostly been happily stacking miles on the odometer since then. I have been working on making the car my own with a period-correct set of wheels, some extra carbon trim, and a...
