Why Buy A Bugatti Centodieci When You Can Have This F-16 Fighter Jet For Less?
Why Buy A Bugatti Centodieci When You Can Have This F-16 Fighter Jet For Less?-March 2024

Well not this F-16 exactly, but supposedly one similar

The $8,878,800 (plus tax!) list price of the really makes you think. The fact that there’s a market for such a preposterous toy is a pretty clear indicator that some people are too rich. Then again–why would you park among peasants in one of these when I could hook you up with an F-16 jet for less?

But actually–I was trawling Facebook thinking about Bugattis mere moments ago when I saw jet for sale in Palm Beach, Florida with an asking price of $8,500,000. (Call Russ if you want it, but I bet he knows what he’s got.)

“One is from the future and looks like it’s from the ’80s,” my colleague Raphael Orlove observed. And “the other is from the ’80s and looks like the future.” Indeed, the Centodieci is an homage to the Bugatti EB110, borrowing some of its design elements and ostensibly supposed to be just as epic.

The airplane ad is hilariously vague, but I guess you’d have to know what you’re looking at to be in the market for a fighter jet anyway. As to whether or not it’s a good deal, well, the U.S. government is from the Bulgarian government for eight F-16s, so $208,750,000 apiece. Yeah, I’m going to go ahead and guess that that one in Flordia needs a little more than an A/C recharge.

Be that as it may, it’d still be a more baller accessory sitting in your garage than a nearly-nine million dollar Bugatti. As long as you have a really big garage. Or, like, a theme restaurant to park it in.

but it’s not as user-friendly.

Hat tip to Leo!

For $16,500, Vita-Meata-Vegamino
The failure of Chevy's Vega was possibly not just due to its reputation for horrific durability, but also - with only two-door sedan, hatchback coupe, and wagon offerings - for its dearth of body style choice. Today's Vegamino, with it's mid-mounted V8 fixes that problem, but is its price still...

For $7,500 Canadian, get the kit and kabuki
When the world's great auto makers leave you wanting, maybe it's time to go it alone with a kit car. And if your yearnings extend to gull wings and Asiatic dragons then perhaps it's time for this Bradley GT II. You might however, hanker for it having a lower price....

2012 Hyundai Veloster: First Drive
The 's some strange hybrid of an Aston One-77, Saturn's unlamented three-door SC2 and the beloved Honda CRX. Who'd have thought such a combination was even possible, let alone be a recipe for the most compelling economy car in a largely uninspiring market. Hyundai wanted us to drive the 2012...

For $5,200, the Accordamino could steal your heart
Perhaps due to their ubiquity, the 1994 Honda Accord is consistently in the top ten list of most stolen vehicles in the U.S.. Today's Accord Pickup will standout in a lineup, but is its price a steal, or a crime? Not criminal, but Crack Pipe, that was the consensus yesterday...

For $1,500, do you want fries with that?
If you should choose to dine exclusively at fast food joints, you will likely shorten your life by decades, and when you do die, you will require a hearse with Kenworth on its grille. In contrast, today's Benz W123 can sup on the dregs of burger joints with impunity, but...

For $1,400, take the former Daimler-Chrysler merger to its illogical conclusion
There used to be this joke, back when Mercedes' parent corporation bought Chrysler, that went something like this: how do you pronounce Daimler-Chrysler in German? Daimler, the Chrysler is silent. Today's SL500-bodied Sebring is no joke, but will the price make you wonder if the seller is serious? Speaking of...
