Witness Me As I Enter The One True Porsche Heaven On Earth Called Rennsport Reunion VI
Witness Me As I Enter The One True Porsche Heaven On Earth Called Rennsport Reunion VI-November 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:11:13

I come before you, oh readers, as I stare down a pile of laundry that includes way too many Porsche shirts and a large bag to pack. I am off to Rennsport Reunion VI, Porsche’s gathering of its most significant race cars and other vehicles. There is even . I leave tomorrow. I will not sleep tonight.

Rennsport Reunion started in 2001 as a sort of homecoming celebration for Porsche’s vehicles, and has since grown into the world’s largest Porsche gathering. Everything from historic 959 rally cars and 917 Le Mans cars to grassroots-level Porsche Club of America racers descends upon Laguna Seca. Oh yes: there will be 944s.

Sixty thousand fans descended upon the last Rennsport Reunion in 2015, according to Porsche. This one is expected to be even bigger, given that Porsche has celebrated its 70th anniversary as a company all year long by breaking track records with their .

I’m willing to bet one half-eaten bag of lemon Haribos that the 919 Hybrid Evo is going to attempt a track record at Laguna Seca, if it hasn’t already. I’m just saying.

Even if a car so fast that it’s hard to process with your brain as it whizzes by doesn’t go for a record, there will be so many incredible cars there that it won’t even matter.

Porsche expects 500 of its most fascinating cars to show up, 350 of which will be racing on track. Approximately 50 legendary drivers are set to speak to the Porsche faithful because, well, all those cars won’t drive themselves. A 1,600-car Porsche Club of America member lot will also be on site, in case there weren’t already enough Porsches on site. Porsche is even bringing its from 1948.

It is the ultimate event for a Porsche dork, and I, a person who “decorated” the living room by hanging a spare 944 door on the wall and all but took a vow of poverty to race the Porsche that came with it, am the ultimate Porsche dork. The only way that this event could pander harder to all of my specific interests would be if it added a burnout competition.

I am going to lose my mind.

It is going to rule.

What would you like to see from this weekend?

The Final Lone Star Le Mans Went Out With A Hell Of A Ride
for the World Endurance Championship, there will only be one stop in America for us to enjoy next year, and that will be at Sebring. Austin’s Circuit of The Americas has hosted WEC each of the past five years, and I am probably not the only person who is sad...

Ferrari Blaming Verstappen For Crashing Their F1 Cars Led To A Brutal Own From Mark Webber
The first wet Formula One Singapore Grand Prix in history started with a bang. Max Verstappen’s Red Bull car became the filling in a messy Ferrari sandwich at the start of Sunday’s race. Whoever handles Ferrari’s Twitter account tried to place the blame on Max only to get put right...

Seven Drivers Have A Shot At Winning IndyCar's Championship Today And That's Nuts
Seven Drivers Have A Shot At Winning IndyCar's Championship Today And That's Nuts
IndyCar’s season finale today at Sonoma is going to be insane for one incredible reason: seven different drivers could win the championship. Seven! Sonoma is a double-points race which racing legend A.J. Foyt accurately called a “gimmick” in but that gimmick means that the entire top seven has to bring...

Josef Newgarden Is IndyCar's Awesome Young 2017 Champion
Josef Newgarden became IndyCar’s youngest champion in over a decade and the series’ first American champ in five years. Newgarden had the most number of wins this season, so the championship fits. Red Bull Is Playing The Worst Game Of 20 Questions Ever With Their F1 Engines
Who’s going to provide Red Bull with Formula One engines when Renault after 2018? We don’t know! But Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner is willing to say who it won’t be, or so he says. Either way, this is the worst game of 20 Questions I’ve ever seen. Sky...
