You Have One Day to Get $1,500 Off of a Fiat 124 Spider Just for Choosing a Manual Transmission
You Have One Day to Get $1,500 Off of a Fiat 124 Spider Just for Choosing a Manual Transmission-November 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:09:44

The , a lovely little ,comes in both a manual and an automatic transmission—the former being an obvious source of years of smooth-shifting fun, barring any discomforts with a stick or a clutch. And, for one more day, that manual has an extra perk: $1,500 off of the car.

spotted the offer, which is in the fine print on the Fiat website, about a week ago. It ends on Thursday and is called the “Manual Transmission Bonus Cash,”which sums it up well: Buyers won’t get the money back if they want the car to shift itself. The offer is on every trim of the 2018 and 2019 cars except for the 2018 Lusso Red Top Edition, which doesn’t have a stick.

It’s hard to say why Fiat would offer $1,500back just for getting a stick on a car that so seamlessly pairs with a manual transmission, aside from the obvious assumption that people might be gravitating toward automatics on the lot. But a deal is a deal, nonetheless.

An Autotrader search shows that there are 621 new 2018 and 2019 manualsfor sale versus 449 automatics, but that doesn’t tell us much, since we don’t know how many Fiat made of each transmission and since dealers are notorious for listing vehicles online with the wrong transmission advertised. We’re looking at you, dealers who clog the manual filter with automatic listings.

But, no matter the reason, you can get $1,500 back for the next one and a half daysjust for buying a third pedal, which is more attention than most companies give people who want manuals. If it didn’t sound so suggestive, this blog would end by telling you to go grab that offer by the shift knob before it’s too late.

2008 Jaguar XKR, Part Three
The 2008 Jaguar XKR is a beautiful car. The best angle is probably from the rear. The fenders flare out like a woman's hips to cover the wide rear track and flow into a pinched trunk equipped with the most complementary spoiler ever conceived. It evokes muscular visions of British...

2008 Jaguar XKR, Part Two
The 2008 Jaguar XKR is a fast car. With the added 'R,' the hood louvers inscribed with "Supercharged" and the aggressive body work, however, that probably goes without saying. Those visual cues hint at the added performance. Power is up from 300bhp in the non-R version to 420. It makes...
