The Triumph Castrol Rocket is a “motorcycle” that really looks more like a spaceship. The team’s out in Bonneville chasing speed records, and the most incredible thing about this run is how calm the bike seems at 233 MPH.

Here’s what the Rocket looks like from the outside. And yeah, now you see why the term “motorcycle” just doesn’t quite feel adequate.

This two-wheeled terror is 25 feet long, made of a carbon kevlar unibody construction. Two Triumph Rocket III engines are paired up to put down 1,000 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque.

In the cockpit you won’t find a regular saddle or handlebars, either.

Triumph Castrol and rider Jason DiSalvo weren’t shooting for the scoreboard on this run, but they seemed pretty satisfied with the machine’s performance. I have a feeling we’re going to see this thing go even faster soon enough. The eventual goal is to break Rocky Robinson’s 376.156 MPH motorcycle record set in 2010.

The eventual end-goal? 400 MPH.
