You've Never Seen 233 MPH On A Motorcycle Look This Smooth
You've Never Seen 233 MPH On A Motorcycle Look This Smooth-March 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:14:17

The Triumph Castrol Rocket is a “motorcycle” that really looks more like a spaceship. The team’s out in Bonneville chasing speed records, and the most incredible thing about this run is how calm the bike seems at 233 MPH.

Here’s what the Rocket looks like from the outside. And yeah, now you see why the term “motorcycle” just doesn’t quite feel adequate.

This two-wheeled terror is 25 feet long, made of a carbon kevlar unibody construction. Two Triumph Rocket III engines are paired up to put down 1,000 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque.

In the cockpit you won’t find a regular saddle or handlebars, either.

Here’s a deeper walkaround of this evil Darth Vader fish thing:

Triumph Castrol and rider Jason DiSalvo weren’t shooting for the scoreboard on this run, but they seemed pretty satisfied with the machine’s performance. I have a feeling we’re going to see this thing go even faster soon enough. The eventual goal is to break Rocky Robinson’s 376.156 MPH motorcycle record set in 2010.

The eventual end-goal? 400 MPH.

Fleet of Autonomous Boats Can Now Shapeshift, Which Is Nice, For Science
In news that certainly doesn’t spell our doom, MIT’s fleet of autonomous boats can now break apart and reform into new configurations on their own. Great. My first problem with this marvelous innovation is that MIT and its partner, the Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Metropolitan Solutions, calls the autonomous...

Anyone who travels for work between the big cities of the Northeast is probably familiar with the interior of Amtrak’s Acela “high speed service.” Soon, it’ll be new. Well, it’ll be very similar but with some cool new features. Amtrak’s Acela, which is a nominally “high speed train” service...

This Bonkers Hillclimbing Quad Has Active Aero And A GSX-R1000 Motor
I’ve never been to Rod Millen’s Leadfoot Festival, but every time a new video from the event is unleashed upon the world, and I am introduced to a new incredibly crazy hillclimb machine from the antipodes, my desire to attend this event grows exponentially. This super fast “BRM Quadzilla” started...

The Honda Africa Twin Helped Me Conquer My Fear Of Tall Bikes
The Honda Africa Twin Helped Me Conquer My Fear Of Tall Bikes
I love . Honestly, it’s mostly because they just look so damn cool! They’re modular, look like they can go from like Tierra del Fuego to Nova Scotia, and are usually quick as hell. But for a medium-sized boy like myself, they are often intimidatingly tall. I’ve been riding...
