Design features
The S-Class continues with the Mercedes Benz tradition of classic architecture fused with luxury, sophistication and automotive grandeur. The new S-Class exterior appears prestigious with a larger radiator grille, a long bonnet, and a powerful flowing roof line keeping with the cars sporty coupe-style features.
The Mercedes Benz hallmark dropping line is structured elegantly on the side wall, while a subtle convex-concave effect gives rise to an extremely powerful and elongated body. The pronounced shoulder above the rear wheel adds further emphasis to the cars athletic character. The new style taillights with up to 35 LEDs completes the S-Class meticulous design.
The lower air intakes now feature tiny louvres in high gloss black, which follow the shape of the grille. Completing the front-end design is a chrome strip on the lower part of the bumper. The 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is also the first car in the world to do without a single light bulb and houses around 300 LEDs in the cabin, offer seven hues, five dimming levels and four dimming zones.
The headlamps have clearly defined contours and feature illuminated Mercedes Benz lettering, while the indicators, side lights and daytime running lamps are arranged behind the lens so that the brands hallmark torch is immediately recognisable both day and night. The rear fog lamp is housed in the centre of the bumper, while the reflectors are elegantly integrated on the left and right sides.
Interior Design Features
The interior design of the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class compliments the classic, superior and cutting edge exterior features. Horizontal elements and lines create a setting characterised by visual breadth, while ride comfort, spaciousness and user-friendliness distinguish the S-Class as the leading luxury vehicle in its class.
The redesigned display which appears to be free-floating extends behind the two-spoke steering wheel. This high quality unit is formed by the centre air vents and the analogue clock set into the low positioned three dimensional wood trim. The dashboard is characterised by the striking double-S curve. Wood trim is used generously around the dashboard and centre console, while metallic switch surfaces with pearl-effect paint finished in three colour shades.
