Ducati is known for its racing history and the willingness to achieve more performance for its motorcycle family. With that in mind, in 2014 Ducati came up with the 1199 Panigale R.
The 2014 R model is lighter and more powerful than the base version of the 1199 Panigale. The R model took everything from the S model and updated the technical data to achieve better targets. A few updates in the engine were the titanium con-rods saving 0.63 kg (1.30 lbs) and a 0.7 kg (1,54 lbs) lighter crankshaft flywheel.
The race livery is inspired by the Ducati Corso, with a white racing stripe from front to back, and with more carbon fiber parts, the R model’s weight is reduced by almost 3 kg (6.6 lbs) and reaches a dry weight of 164 kg (362 lbs)
From a mechanical point of view, the R was powered by the 1198cc Superquadro Desmodromic liquid-cooled engine and develops a power of 195 hp at 10.750 rpm and 132 (97 lb-ft) of torque at 9,000 rpm.
Other R features consist of a high-penetration racing screen, fairing mirror alloy caps, and a full Termignoni exhaust system with a dedicated ECU mapping,
but that's just for track use only.
The 2014 Ducati 1199 Panigale R was listed for sale in 2022 starting at $16.000.
