In 2016, Ducati released the new 1299 Panigale, a sport motorcycle named after the small manufacturing town of Borgo Panigale. The model comes with a style and features that characterize the racing heritage of Ducati. The 2016 Panigale is called the plain wrap version because it lacks the active suspension of the Panigale S and the light weight of the Panigale R.
The 2016 model is powered by the 1285cc Superquadro Desmodromic liquid-cooled engine that develops an output of 205 hp at 10,500 rpm and 145 Nm (107 lb-ft) of torque. The hot gases pass through a 2-1-2 catalytic converter with two lambda probes and twin stainless-steel mufflers with aluminum end caps.
For better weight reduction and rigidity, the chassis uses the engine as a stressed member. The bike weighs 166 kg (366 lbs) dry.
On the front, it uses a 50mm Marzocchi fully adjustable upside-down fork and a Sachs fully adjustable monoshock suspension on the rear.
Braking is handled by the two 330 mm discs, 4-piston Brembo Monobloc M50 calipers on the front, and a single 245 mm disc, 2-piston caliper on the back, both featuring cornering ABS.
The three-spoked light alloy wheels are married to a pair of Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa tires generating the grip needed.
The new 2016 Ducati 1299 Panigale was for sale in 2022 from $13,700.
