In 2016, Ducati came up with a new Panigale model. The 1299 Panigale S, unlike the base Panigale, was fitted with the Ohlins Smart EC semi-active suspension system. For best performance, the semi-active suspension could be manually adjusted, offering a semi-active mode that presets to hard or soft.
Like the other models, the 1299 Panigale, pushed by the 1285cc Superquadro Desmodromic liquid-cooled engine fixed to a six-speed gearbox, developed a power of 205 hp at 10,500 rpm and 145 Nm (107 lb-ft) of torque at 8,750 rpm.
Replacing the conventional trellis frame, the new 2016 Ducati 1299 Panigale S has a monocoque frame that uses the engine as a stressed member to save weight and gain rigidity. The dry weight of the new Panigale S is 166 kg (366 lbs).
In the suspension department, the bike has a 43 mm Ohlins NIX30 fully adjustable upside-down, tin-coated fork on the front and an Ohlins TTX36 fully adjustable monoshock on the rear.
Bike's stopping power provided by the two Brembo 330 mm discs on the front and one 245 mm disc on the back is assisted as standard by an ABS.
The Marchesini forged aluminum three-spoke light alloy wheels are married with a pair of Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tires.
The 2016 Ducati 1299 Panigale S was for sale in 2022 for $10,000 depending on the clock mileage.
