Acura Wants To Dominate The 25 Hours Of Thunderhill With An ILX-March 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:11:43

Giving us further proof that Acuras look far better in than in Grandpa-spec, Acura released this pretty picture of an ILX that they plan to reveal at the New York International Auto Show alongside their flagship. Behold, this is the endurance racer they're taking to the 25 Hours of Thunderhill.

The is the National Auto Sport Association's most famous race: a grueling day-and-an-hour-long enduro around the twisty California track in its name.

Back in 2002, the National Auto Sport Association's 12-hour race at Thunderhill was so popular that

Now Acura plans to enter it with an ES-class Acura ILX. The ILX features upgraded suspension, racing cams, forged pistons and connecting rods, a lightened flywheel and a host of other track-ready mods. Look at those lightbars! I want lightbars. The full list of modifications can be found , although they don't list a whole lot of specifics (for obvious reasons).

Fresh from its first victory with the Acura TLX GT in the 2015 Pirelli World Challenge racing…

The NSX it will be next to at the auto show isn't just a fancy garage queen supertoy, either. Acura will be using it as the pace car for this year's Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on June 28. I guess supercars as pace vehicles is one upside of paving the Peak. Either way, I can't wait to see it in official pace car trim.

No, Fernando Alonso and Taylor Swift Are Almost Certainly Not Dating

Melissa Paris Was ‘Lost’ Until She Found Competitive Motorcycle Riding
Melissa Paris misses racing. You wouldn’t be able to tell initially while in conversation, or during the occasional cuts MotoAmerica TV coverage makes to Paris, standing in her garage, watching her team or her husband on track. She looks focused. Confident. Sometimes fierce. It’s not that she doesn’t love the...
