Ask Porsche Le Mans Prototype Driver Neel Jani Anything You Want
Ask Porsche Le Mans Prototype Driver Neel Jani Anything You Want-May 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:11:38

What is is like to drive for one of the most dominant teams in sportscar racing? Here’s your chance to find out. We have Porsche World Endurance Championship driver Neel Jani here for the next thirty minutes or so to answer any questions you have about anything — from ChampCar to the Porsche 919.

Mark Webber isn’t the only Porsche works driver to come from Formula One. Swiss Porsche hotshoe Neel Jani also made the jump over to endurance racing after having been a reserve driver for Scuderia Toro Rosso in 2006.

After a stint as Toro Rosso’s third driver, Jani went into Champ Car from there, stuck around in A1GP some more and eventually made his way into sportscars — specifically, top-level LMP1-class endurance racers. He first drove an LMP1 with privateer Rebellion Racing, and then moved into a works driver role with the Porsche manufacturer effort when the Porsche team was started back up in 2014.

Jani’s number 18 car hasn’t had a win yet this season, but there are four races left of the eight-race season. Anything can still happen, especially given how unstoppable the Porsche works team is at the moment.

So, what would you like to know? What are the quirks of driving for Porsche? Who’s the biggest joker in the paddock? What are really like? How does the LMP1 compare with the F1 car? What are his coolest memories from ChampCar? Has he ever considered a run in the 24 Hours of LeMons?

Whatever you want to know, ask it now! We’ll have thirty minutes with Jani starting at 6:45 p.m. EDT for him to answer your most burning questions. Who needs dinner when you can ask about the 919?

Contact the author at for any other burning questions you may have, such as “how do I type?” and “is there really a racing driver inside the magic picture box?”
