The Nürburgring 24 Hours was the I’ve ever been to, but behind all the wild campgrounds, there was still a race going on. Manthey Racing driver Laurens Vanthoor set a new pole-winning lap record for the Nürburgring 24 Hours in the No. 911 Porsche 911 GT3 R, and hot dang, it is fast.

It only took Vanthoor 8:09.105 to make it around the full 15.99-mile circuit in use by the race, which uses the modern grand prix track connected to the Nordschleife you’d usually drive on vacation.

While he didn’t ultimately win the race after the No. 911 before the halfway point, the team’s other No. 912 car did after an .

Half the battle with this insanely quick pole lap seems to be knowing which curbs are okay to hop and which ones would send you into the wall if you look at them funny.

I hate how easy this onboard makes it look, because nothing about staying flat out but in control through some of these sections sounds particularly easy. The amount of flat-out time in this car where there’s no audible shifts is absurd. It’s not a smooth ride, either, especially around the 6:40 mark in this video.
