Car Hits Two Crew Members At The Indy 500
Car Hits Two Crew Members At The Indy 500-March 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:11:41

All three Dale Coyne Racing cars were involved in an incident on pit lane, where the rush to get out of pit lane ended badly for two crew members working on Tristan Vautier’s car.

After Ed Carpenter and Oriol Servia both , there was a lengthy yellow while those two cars were recovered. Pit lane traffic got pretty crazy after that incident and all three Dale Coyne Racing cars—those of Pippa Mann, James Davison, and Tristan Vautier—came in at once.

PIT-ROAD-INCIDENT

Of the three, Pippa Mann was released first. James Davison was the second to be released, but he was released too close to Mann in the same lane. This caused Davison’s car to hit two members of Tristan Vautier’s crew.

“Unfortunately, I got sent out there at the same time that Pippa was coming,” explained Davison.

One crew member was taken off on a gurney, and the other left in an ambulance.

Davison and Vautier are now both out of the race, as Vautier’s car was blocked in while ambulances attended to the injured crewmen.

We hope for a speedy recovery for both of Vautier’s crew.

: According to , one crew member was transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital with a right ankle injury. The other crew member was released from the infield medical center.

: According to , the hospitalized crew member has now been released, although he expects to have a lengthy recovery ahead. The other crew member was just sore from the accident, and is expected to be at Detroit’s Belle Isle race this weekend.
