Check Out The Incredible Roll Cage In This Lamborghini Rally Car
Check Out The Incredible Roll Cage In This Lamborghini Rally Car-May 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:11:44

As you know, . And that means it is going to need a cage. And here it is, a complete wonder.

built this cage. They've been involved with rally for coming up on two decades and they've worked with Brakim Racing since those guys got involved in rally.

I asked Ryan what it was like putting a rally-spec cage in a Lamborghini. Remember, this cage has to be ultra strong. While a normal Lamborghini race car might crash into a tire barrier or a wall, this thing will be rocketing sideways past trees, dropoffs, and just about anything else you really, really don't want to hit.

I figured that the hardest part of the job would be . As it turned out, Ryan said that the dimensions weren't that bad. At least, they weren't that unusual. He's caged small cars like Triumphs and Honda CRXs before.

Yes, that guy is upside down.

What was a real challenge was that the Lamborghini is aluminum.

He's caged aluminum cars before, but this Lambo took a lot of work to get fully braced. In a steel car, you could easily weld in bracing. With this, you have to bolt in. There are at least a dozen tie-in points for this cage. Scroll through the pictures (click the little magnifying glass in the corner to expand them to full resolution) and you'll get a sense of just how much work went into this cage.

I've said it before and I've said it again — I can't wait to see this thing in action.Photo Credits: Thompson Racing Fabrication/Erik Olsen

Someone Please Get Supercars Driver Shane Van Gisbergen In A Rally Car
Supercars driver Shane van Gisbergen is one of my favorite drivers to watch, and not only when he wins. In fact, if his fourth-place performance at this year’s Bathurst 1000 proved anything, it’s that I’d really, really like to see him in a rally car. Van Gisbergen is the master...

I'm Not Sure Which Driver Had A Bigger Code Brown With This Insane F1 Off
Lance Stroll’s Williams Formula One car became an out-of-control torpedo after a right front tire problem, sending him off-roading through the gravel trap. If that wasn’t terrifying enough, his car popped out right as Daniel Ricciardo’s Red Bull was passing by. Behold, the near miss of the year. Stroll was...

The Start Of The 20th Petit Le Mans Was Chaos With Penske Taken Out By Wreck
It’s the 20th anniversary of the running of the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta, and not quite 20 minutes into the race, the overall leader, Team Penske’s not-Acura-yet prototype was taken out by the lead car in the GTD class, the No. 63 Scuderia Corsa Ferrari. The moist track...
