Chrysler Is Bringing Back Performance. Hopefully.-December 2024

While Chrysler for 2023, it’s teasing something that, as of this post, is supposed to drop in a week’s time. While people like us would flip if it was some kind of , that’s highly doubtful. We’re pretty sure it’s going to be some kind of Chrysler 300.

Chrysler is being vague on the details, which isn’t out of the norm for something like this. The teaser, which is on , features red brake calipers behind wheels that could only come from a 300. No details are given except Chrysler says that it will be “one of the most powerful and luxurious special edition vehicles in Chrysler Brand history.” I’m praying it’s a new SRT 300.

We know the current LD platform that underpins the 300/Charger and the LY platformed Challenger are on their way out. It’s why Dodge so many . But it’ll be a long time coming if this is a special SRT 300 as a last hurrah. As I mentioned, for years Dodge has been getting all the performance goodies.

2012 Chrysler 300 SRT

That wasn’t always the case though as Chrysler offered two generations of the 300 SRT: the first-gen 300 SRT-8 and the second-gen 300 SRT, which was discontinued in 2015. That last 300 SRT was essentially a 300 Scat Pack. You got it if the Charger SRT was too sporty for you. It combined the luxury of the 300 with the performance of a Scat Pack. But it’s weird they stopped offering it. I mean, who wouldn’t want a huge rear wheel drive American luxury sedan powered by a huge 6.4-liter 477 horsepower V8? It’s a cruise missile. But with how badly Chrysler has needed product, here’s to hoping that this is something genuinely special for the brand before it goes in on EVs.

Pontiac’s G8 GXP Was a Glorious Last Gasp for a Formerly Great Brand
Remember ? I mean, Pontiac as it should have been all along, not the Pontiac of the 1990s with all its bad plastic, questionable styling and disappointment. We lost GM’s “performance brand” in 2010, and while most of the cars sold by the brand at that time aren’t worth...

Vinfast Offers its EV Customers a $7,500 Discount if They Can't Get The Federal Tax Credit
Vinfast is moving fast, sorta. For a company that still doesn’t have any cars to sell, it’s behaving as if it has inventory. From dealerships that are with near-empty showrooms, to in the U.S., the manufacturer appears fairly eager. Monday, Vinfast announced the company will give customers a $7,500...

Prospective Tesla Model 3 Long Range AWD buyers trying to place an order for the vehicle have run into a stumbling block: They could no longer order that exact vehicle. The option is grayed out, with the notation that it will be “available in 2023.” According to Tesla’s Elon...

The Dodge Durango Hellcat Is Back For 2023
It’s an interesting time to be Dodge right now. The brand has built itself around performance, muscular high-displacement V8s in a world that’s increasingly overrun with two-liter turbo-fours, but that can’t last forever. The company’s most performance-oriented cars, the Challenger and Charger, . What’s the brand to do? If...

At $43,000, Is This Like-New 2001 Ford Mustang Bullitt Like… a Good Deal?
Today’s Mustang is a factory homage to the car driven by the “King of Cool,” Steve McQueen in the 1968 thrill-a-thon, Bullitt. Let’s see if its amazing condition will make it just as memorable. For kids in high school, it’s important to always wear the right clothes and have...

You Could Own the World's Greatest 1999 Chevy Monte Carlo
The late nineties/early aughts are back, baby. TikTok teens are wearing wide-legged jeans and bucket hats, is , and we had a news cycle around Britney Spears. Time, as always, is a flat circle. I don’t know about you, but this cycle has got me nostalgic. I’ve been shopping...
