Corvette That Won Last Year's Rolex 24 Died Suddenly On Track
Corvette That Won Last Year's Rolex 24 Died Suddenly On Track-July 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:11:25

Marcel Fässler’s drive in the No. 4 Corvette C7.R was abruptly interrupted by a complete electrical failure. The car shut off and Fässler had to pull off to the side, almost being taken out by the race-leading Cadillac DPi-V.R of Max Angelelli in the process.

The No. 4 Corvette had taken a minor hit earlier in the sixth hour of the race by the No. 69 Ford GT of Harry Tincknell in a ‘Murica-on-’Murica incident. No word as to whether that knocked anything loose to cause the electrical failure.

Fässler has driven with the Corvette team before, however, his last big drive was with the shuttered-by-Dieselgate Audi R18 team. Fässler’s bad luck continues, I guess. The No. 4 was also the car that turned into an impromptu car-b-que at this year’s Roar Before the 24, so it’s on a string of crappy luck, too.

Corvette Racing was able to restart the No. 4 behind the pit lane wall and has now sent it back with Oliver Gavin at the wheel. Sadly, it is now 5 laps behind the GTLM class leader.

Rain has now made its way to the track, so don’t expect the mayhem to end any time soon. Fresh rain makes things extra-slick, and this probably going to get even crazier soon.

The 2005 U.S. Grand Prix was an absolute disgrace for the sport, the fans, and the drivers. The...

has a lot of rules these days, from to the severity of penalties categorized by “levels.” But even NASCAR gets those rules wrong sometimes, which led to seven-time Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champ Jimmie Johnson getting mistakenly shoved to the back of the field on Sunday. Johnson qualified 23rd...

I Will Never Love Finnish Rally Crashes as Much as Finnish People Love Finnish Rally Crashes
If you see a car in this video, it will crash. But it’s not the crashes I love so much as it is the reactions of the Finns watching the crashes in this compilation of local Finnish rallies from the past year. Yes, a ton of people immediately do rush...

Future Williams F1 Driver Used a PowerPoint to Show the Team Why He Deserved the Spot
There are only 20 cars in the current field, meaning competition for seats that happen to be open for the upcoming season is fierce. Because of that, it sometimes takes a little extra to get noticed—like how reports that Formula 2 driver George Russell used PowerPoint to make his case....

I Need Every Retro Formula One Race to Have Modern Graphics
If you’re like me and spend too much of your free time delving into the historical annals of Formula One races, you’ve probably realized how tough they can be to watch. Sometimes ambient race car noises and good battles are all you need—but how are you supposed to know who’s...
