Driving A Rally Stage With A Flat Tire Suuuuuuuuucks
Driving A Rally Stage With A Flat Tire Suuuuuuuuucks-December 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:11:44

All of those beautiful rally yumps and drifts rely on one crucial component: tires. When you have a busted tire, it makes everything completely miserable. Ride along with the Troy Motorsports Ford Fiesta R2 as it struggles to move in a straight line on the Scotia North stage of the Rally in the 100 Acre Wood.

Welcome to , a feature where we spend that pesky time between race weekends looking at awesome footage from inside the car.

Unfortunately for driver Troy Miller and codriver Steven Harrell (yes, ), the team had used their only spare tire at the end of Stage 10, and they had another flat before this stage (SS12) on their back right tire. It was either continue on the flat tire for now, or retire from the rally. So, onwards!

The tire already had about 20 miles on it total after it went flat. Oops. It made it 50 miles before they could get back in to service.

Want to stare down the face of misery and weep as the car waddles down the way like an inebriated waterfowl? Here you go.

The car makes it to the end of the stage and even makes it up to 74 mph at once point, but it's reeeeeeeally sketchy. With no functional rear tire, the car just wants to spin on the snowy stage road.

Have an awesome onboard video to share? Drop me a line at or post it in the comments below.

Sorry, Pastor Maldonado, Formula One Is Not A Rally
I have to give Pastor Maldonado’s detour through the gravel trap some credit here: the Lotus Formula One driver holds it together and keeps it out of the wall. Crash counter: . Perhaps the Venezuelan is missing out on his one true calling: rally. So far in Bahrain, Maldonado isn’t...
