F1 Champ Lewis Hamilton Skips Brazilian GP Top-Three Qualifying Photo, Because He Can-July 2024

The Brazilian Grand Prix qualifying results look about like everyone expected them to, with Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel topping the charts. But no one would know by just looking at the top-three (or two-ish?) photo after qualifying, because Hamilton skipped out on it.

Rosberg edged his Mercedes teammate out of pole position by just a tenth of a second in the session, with Vettel over half a second behind. Here’s how phrased the post-qualifying situation at the Mercedes camp:

Having missed the post-session top three photograph, Hamilton was keen to downplay Rosberg’s pole, even suggesting 2015 no longer mattered.

“I’ve won most poles this year and the world championship, so there’s nothing really to read into it,” the triple champion said.

Well Hamilton, not everyone has people wanting to take their picture. Sheesh.

With the , it’s not surprising that there seemed to be frustration with the outcome. The top starting spot is Rosberg’s fifth in a row, and it comes after Hamilton had a rough week featuring

As for how the rest of qualifying ended up, Valtteri Bottas and Vettel’s Ferrari teammate Kimi Raikkonen rounded out the top five. Both McLaren drivers dropped out of Q1, but Jenson Button at least got on the board—Fernando Alonso failed to set a time.

But the McLaren guys actually wanted to visit the podium for photographers—the series shared that after walking by and realizing that it “will not be this close anymore.”

March, Alonso said, will hopefully bring the real thing.
