God Has Struck Down the First 2JZ 2020 Toyota Supra
God Has Struck Down the First 2JZ 2020 Toyota Supra-July 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:11:10

It would seem that Daigo Saito’s 2JZ-swapped Mk5 Supra has had some teething issues, as it has already gone aflame. While running this weekend in Japan, the car suffered a couple of big errors involving flame emitting from both ends of the car. It would seem that perhaps the fueling system isn’t quite as sorted as it needs to be in order to do mad tight drifts.

According to , Daigo Saito was participating in the “Monster Energy Presents D1GP All Star Shoot-out” in Odaiba. From the looks of things it was more of an exhibition than an actual drift competition, but ultimately the car’s first public outing.

Verkeenko’s instagram post below shows the car spitting a few balls of flame from the back of the car. Normally this wouldn’t be much of a problem, but considering what happened later, it was certainly a portent of things to come.

The on-track calamity was captured on a 2001 PotatoCam by Noriyaro in the trio of pictures below. This looks like a much more detrimental issue. The 2JZ under the hood is spitting out lots of big hot murder air, and there’s no telling how much damage was actually done. This kind of blow up is either fuel getting everywhere, or oil getting everywhere. Neither is a particularly good option.

All of that said, when it works, it’s a little bit of heaven dropped upon the unworthy. Damn, this thing rips.

Lewis Hamilton Really Regrets This Fedora
Listen. Men, I am here to set the record straight on this: fedoras are never okay. Nor are closely-related hats such as the trilby. No. Unless you are in the 1930s or heading to a theme party in full period-appropriate costume, just say no to the fedora. Even two-time Formula...
