The bellowing thunder of past Corvette racers is gone, replaced with a more modern roar. This is the unexpectedly caught during testing in Florida.

I have no idea how the uploader of this video, a Lanky Turtle, got access to Sebring to see this thing go, but good work getting it.

One hopes the video won’t get taken down, as it’s not only one of our clearest views of the upcoming car, but one of our best chances to hear it, flatplane crank V8 noise and all.

Is the new C8.R less impressive, less distinctive than the C7, C6, and C5.Rs before it? Yeah, but it’s also appreciably more modern. Maybe that’s a worthwhile tradeoff.
