How Many Hellcats Would It Take To Match A Moon Rocket?
How Many Hellcats Would It Take To Match A Moon Rocket?-November 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:14:29

Yesterday was the anniversary of the Apollo 11 launch, and while the actual moon landing part of the whole thing tends to get the most attention, the launch itself was nothing at which to sneeze. That Saturn V rocket was powerful. How powerful? Well, let's put it in terms of cars.

Horsepower is actually a pretty ridiculous metric to use for something like a rocket, but, luckily, being ridiculous never stopped anyone, so we know the Saturn V's first stage made about 160,000,000 HP. That's a lot of power, sure, but how many Dodge Hellcats would that be? Those guys have been going on and on about .

When the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat was announced, the folks at Chrysler merely said it would…

Or maybe Focus STs? Or even 2CVs? The 2CV number is interesting, because in order to reach the number of 2CVs needed to match a Saturn V, we'd have to get Citroën to pull all their old 2CV manufacturing gear out from the bottom of the Seine and make about 3 million more 2CVs. Now, if we count 2CVs and all the variants like Meharis and stuff, sure, we're okay, but I just wanted you to be aware.

Hope this helps!

The F-4 Phantom's Manufacturer Wanted To Give It Swing-Wings
McDonnell Aircraft Corporation’s F-4 Phantom was quickly becoming the do-all fighter by the mid 1960s, able to lug thousands of pounds of bombs on one mission and then strictly air-to-air missiles the next. The potential for evolving the already successful Phantom became especially attractive as high-end combat aircraft programs of...

This Yamaha Electric Motorcycle Concept Is Two Wheel Drive
Yamaha may not have a supercharged or turbocharged motorcycle to show at this year’s bike shows, but this PES2 Electric Concept certainly isn’t lacking in the cool department. Yamaha released the PES1 and PED1 concepts back in 2013, with grand claims about bringing an electric motorcycle to market by 2016....

Someone Finally Put Wood Grain On A Motorcycle And It Looks Awesome
Retro styling is in motorcycles right now, but I think Yamaha’s Resonator125 concept might be the first one brave enough to go for actual wood-inlaid-on-chrome. Classy or too far? Don’t be so quick to dismiss it as “just another café racer,” even though that look is still alive and well...

Electric Motorcycling Just Took A Massive Leap Forward
Zero Motorcycles came out swinging this year, with two new motorcycles and a whole suite of updated technologies. For the first time in my life, I can say that the want to ride an electric bike (that isn’t an electric super bike) is stroooooong. Before we jump into the new...

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's U.S. Carrier Visit Signifies A New Age For Japan's Military Doctrine
History was made yesterday as Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visited the USS Ronald Reagan during Japan’s massive Maritime Self-Defense Force Fleet Review exercise. It was the first time a Japanese Prime Minister had visited a U.S. aircraft carrier at sea, and is yet another sign of Japan’s changing military...
