How To Handle A Phone Call When You're Racing
How To Handle A Phone Call When You're Racing-May 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:11:48

The same hands-free phone technology that saves our butts on the road can be a real pain if you decide to race or track your street car. How do you handle a call if you forgot to leave your phone far away in the paddock? Keep driving, of course.

Clearly, this man's attempt at autocrossing his Fiesta ST wasn't going well, as he points out the cones he's hit and the place where he spun on a previous run. You can hear the frustration in the f-bombs he drops on course.

What happens next should be a warning to all of us who forget to stash our phones back in the paddock, or who haven't figured out how to unlink them during hoon sessions.

He receives a call. The car answers the call, because it's hands free!

And the man continues racing.

He didn't spin this time, so maybe there's something to having to concentrate on both the course as well as an ill-timed phone call.

Just kidding. I'd probably spin out. Leave the phone out of the range of your car if you can, or carefully bring it back in or dismiss the call when you can't.

Big F1 TV Update Could Finally Fix The Service's Problems This Year
Big F1 TV Update Could Finally Fix The Service's Problems This Year
Back in January, I said for a streaming service dedicated to the highest level of global motorsport. My opinion was predominantly based on the fact F1 TV didn’t support casting across non-Apple hardware and didn’t have native apps for any streaming platform outside of Roku’s. Thankfully, all of these...

This Is Why Some American Flags Are Backwards On Race Cars And Planes
A vaguely hilarious tweet last week asked folks to spot the American flag in the Haas Formula One livery, and some confused folks in the comments made me realize that not everyone knows about the way American flags are represented on things like race cars, planes, and spaceships. They’re...

Enzo Ferrari's Son Rails Against Cost Of Tech Development In F1
Even with cost caps on the horizon, Formula One is such a ridiculously expensive sport that it can be tough to justify the sheer amount of money that gets poured into tech development each year. And Enzo Ferrari’s only surviving son, Piero Ferrari, has some choice words about the...

Today I Learned About Jesus Saves Racing (And No, It Wasn't A NASCAR Team)
I like to consider myself something of a 1970s Formula One encyclopedia, but if there’s one person in this world who can outdo me, it’s my good pal , who taught me about a fun little racing team called Jesus Saves Racing. I stumbled on a ‘Jesus Saves’ sponsor...

The Superstar Racing Experience Car Looks Like A Ferrari F40 Super Late Model
The Superstar Racing Experience is coming this summer as a sprint race short-track series for retired racers founded by Ray Evernham and Tony Stewart. Much like the rest of the series—from the tv package on CBS Sports, and lineup of rinky-dink race tracks, to the driver lineup that peaks...
