Miata Horror Crash Shows What Can Go Wrong Even In Low-Level Racing
Miata Horror Crash Shows What Can Go Wrong Even In Low-Level Racing-March 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:11:48

Now this is how you break your arm in style.

Mark Leach, the driver of the blue #16 Miata might not have felt very lucky going into this crash, particularly since it was his very first race.

Leach felt lucky at the end of it, though. He had multiple fractures in his arm, whiplash, a bruised lung, and a week in the hospital's worth of other injuries, as points out.

Here's how Leach himself described the wreck, which happened at Snetterton back in 2011.

Not the ending I wanted to my first race in my MX5. I was very lucky just to end up with a broken right arm, considering how bad the crash was it could have been a lot worse.

Indeed. And now you know why arm restraints exist.

(Hat tip to Roger Garbow!)

My Race Car Is Now A Rolling Noise Violation
I did not get to track my car yesterday. Let me show you why. Needless to say, I'm a little above the track's 85 dB noise limit at the fence line. Apparently, rust forms inside the muffler when these cars only go short distances for most of their lives, as...
