Hyundai Will Let You Buy An All-Wheel-Drive Sonata For Just $30,000-November 2024

2024 Hyundai Sonata

Don’t count sedans out just yet. Hyundai is the latest automaker that’s showing it’s not throwing in the towel on the segment. The automaker and now we finally know how much it’ll cost. Including a $1,115 destination charge, the 2024 Sonata starts at just $28,615, $2,050 more than the outgoing model.

The reason for the sudden price spike is because Hyundai has gotten rid of the base SE trim for 2024, leaving the SEL as the entry into the lineup. For the aforementioned $28,615 you get standard features like a 192-horsepower 2.5-liter inline-4, LED projector headlights, a suite of driver safety aids and a 12.3-inch touchscreen.

If you want all-wheel drive, which is new for the Sonata, it’s just $1,500 more than the front-drive SEL for a total of $30,115. The SEL Convenience, which gets you a bit more standard features and options like a sunroof and leather seating, starts at $31,665.

2024 Hyundai Sonata N-Line

From there the price jumps a bit dramatically to the Sonata N-Line, the performance model in the lineup. The Sonata N-Line starts at $36,065, which gets you a turbocharged version of the 2.5-liter inline-4 with 290 HP, an 8-speed wet dual-clutch transmission, more aggressive bumper designs, quad exhaust tips, 19-inch wheels and sports seats.

Then there are the hybrid trims: the $31,915 Hybrid SEL and the range-topping $38,315 Sonata Hybrid Limited. These have a 2.0-liter four-cylinder paired with a 6-speed auto and an electric motor.

2024 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Limited

In addition to new features like a power trunk on the Hybrid Limited and an available curved panoramic display that combines two 12.3-inch screens together, there’s also standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on all trims, a transmission selector that’s moved to the steering column, over-the-air update capability and a redesigned dual automatic climate control system with soft touch controls and a digital display. We love to see actual buttons in car interiors.

The 2024 Sonata is set to go on sale in Q1 2024, so figure another month or two before they reach dealer lots.

For $5,500, Be Crazy ‘Bout A Mercury
If I had money, I tell you what I'd do, I'd go downtown and buy a Mercury or two. So goes the Alan Jackson classic, Mercury Blues, but should you need only one cool Merc then today's Marquis might be it. That is, if its price doesn't give you the...

Do you have an escape plan for when society finally crumbles? If not the you should, and today's Kingwood Camper might make for a perfect post-collapse mobile stronghold, that is if its price isn't apocalyptic. You know what would have been pretty earth shattering? If yesterday's hadn't walked off the...

The 18 Things You Learn Driving The McLaren 650S In The Rain
The first thing you learn is that it doesn't usually rain in Spain, but when it does, it's the sort of rain that requires you to be more Captain Nemo than Ayrton Senna. And that's when you figure out how a is as a submarine, not a car. (: McLaren...

For $12,000, Will You Like This Elite A Lot?
The Type 75 Lotus Elite is a far cry from its diminutive predecessor, but as today's custom edition proves, there's always room for improvement. You'll still need to decide if this Elite is priced to match its name. You know, if the Unibomber had yesterday's custom instead of his shitty...

For $1,711, Show Some Civic Pride
They say you never really know what you have until it's gone. Today's Honda is a model that was once common but is now all but gone. Will its price also be a real gone deal? Do you think when she eventually passes away - an event which will hopeful...

Dinan S3-R BMW 1M: The Jalopnik Review
My best guess is that Dinan is actually part of some radical environmental group dedicated to eliminating all private car ownership. That's the only reason I can think of to explain why they keep making these amazing machines designed to remove your legal ability to drive, like this 1M. I...
