2024-02-19 EST 22:11:36

MotoGP rider Valentino Rossi crashed out at the end of Valencia MotoGP qualifying, but he’s forced to start from the back of the grid anyway due to a penalty from an in Sepang. Meanwhile, his main championship rival Jorge Lorenzo took pole position with a record-breaking lap of 1:30.001.

Lanesplitter has this informational run-down of all the different points possibilities, if you’re curious as to where both riders would have to finish for Rossi to still win the championship.

Valentino Rossi was ordered to start from the back of the grid this Sunday for the final race of…

Starting from pole while Rossi starts from the back makes this considerably easier for Lorenzo to pull off, however, Lorenzo’s Yamaha teammate isn’t going down without a fight.

According to , Rossi had set out to treat qualifying as normal anyway. Unfortunately for him, he fell in the second qualifying session, ending up 12th in the times.

Full qualifying results can be viewed . The championship will be decided once and for all at 7:30 a.m. ET on Fox Sports 1.

Get A Load Of This Idiot Fan At The Monte Carlo Rally
Watching rally cars is fun. Watching rally cars while crouched inches away from them as they drive at highway speeds, with your back pressed against a no-escape rock wall? Less fun. This dude with a rather cavalier attitude about self-preservation was out on Special Stage 3 of the Monte Carlo...
