New Nissan Pathfinder models launched in South Africa
New Nissan Pathfinder models launched in South Africa-September 2024
2023-12-14 EST 02:30:52

Nissan has launched two new Pathfinder SE models in South Africa which are joining the existing Pathfinder LE and Pathfinder V9X models to complete the brand’s medium SUV range. The new Nissan Pathfinder models will be available with either a manual or automatic gearbox and are fitted with a number of practical features.

New Nissan Pathfinder SE offers more choice

Engine Capability

Both new models are powered by a 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine producing 140kW at 4 000rpm and 450Nm of torque at 2 000rpm. They will be mated to either a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission with All-MODE 4×4 which includes a drive mode selector switch and Active Brake Limited Slip (ABLS).

The Active Brake Limited Slip (ABLS) uses ABS wheel-speed sensors to detect a loss of traction in one or more of the driven wheels and applies braking force to the affected wheel or wheels to help slow them down, thus redirecting power to the driven wheels which have the most traction.

Fuel consumption for the new models are rated at 8.5-litres/100km (9-litres/100km for the automatic) with CO2 emissions at 224 g/km (238 g/km for the automatic).

Outstanding on-road comfort and handling

The rugged and premium looking SUV’s will feature all-round independent suspension and multi-link at the rear which according to Nissan offer better ride quality, both on and off-road, compared to the ‘bakkie-based’ SUVs with which the Pathfinder competes.

The new Nissan Pathfinder models feature a towing capacity of 3 000kg and excellent off-road dimensions where short overhangs and a 232mm ground clearance allow for good approach, departure and break-over angles

Additional features that will come standard with the new Nissan Pathfinder SE models include six cup holders, cruise control, a multi-function steering wheel, a comprehensive trip computer, Bluetooth for hands-free cellphone use, automatic dual-zone climate control and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Safety features will comprise of six airbags with ABS and EBD, vehicle dynamic control, hill hold and hill descent control in the automatic model and ABLS.
