Porsche intends to buy half of Red Bull’s Formula 1 team, according to details published in a document submitted to Morocco antitrust regulatory body Conseil de la Concurrence that emerged Wednesday.

The German automaker and Austrian energy drink/motorsport giant have had to seek approval for their long-rumored tie-up from various governments around the world, and Morocco has made the numbers public. The agency was notified of the plan on July 8, according to German site MotorsportTotal.com by way of .

Porsche and Red Bull reportedly hoped to publicize the news during the the following weekend, but F1 didn’t ratify the proposed 2026 power unit regulations as it was expected to by then. As Porsche will be assisting Red Bull Powertrains in development and manufacturing, the sports car maker’s investment is contingent on confirmation of the future engine spec.

To its credit, Red Bull isn’t really shying away from acknowledging all of this anymore; to call it even an “open secret” would be conservative. From :

On Thursday, Red Bull issued a statement to ESPN saying Porsche’s involvement with its F1 team and newly launched powertrain division was still under discussion, but also made reference to the final approval of the 2026 engine regulations, which is expected to be completed by the FIA’s World Motor Sport Council in August.

“Further to speculation that has been reported about a potential future involvement from Porsche into Red Bull Powertrains and Red Bull’s Formula One team. As has been previously stated, the companies remain engaged in constructive discussions,” the Red Bull statement said.

“We all are looking forward to the satisfactory finalisation of the FIA’s various sporting, financial and technical regulations for 2026.”

It seems that once those regs — which to justify their involvement — are cleared, the partnership should be announced in short order. That could happen as soon as August 4, right at the start of F1's monthlong summer break, according to .

Key to the forthcoming 2026 rules is a 100-percent reliance on sustainable fuels, a non-negotiable sticking point for the Volkswagen Group brands. The FIA will also eliminate the component of existing F1 powertrains — or MGU-H as it’s often referred to — that harvests the heat energy from exhaust gases used to spin the turbo. A cost cap will be placed on power unit development as well.

It’s understood that Red Bull’s will be a , with the championship-leading team conducting its own development at its headquarters in Milton Keynes, and Porsche working in Germany.

Watch A High-Speed Mistake At The Daytona 500 Nearly Take Out Clint Bowyer's Rear End
Close call? Close call. Either way, the first caution at the surprisingly clean (so far) Daytona 500 came out after a pretty simple mistake that could have ended much, much worse. Corey LaJoie whacked the outside wall on lap 27 after trying to carry too much speed into pit lane....

Final Stage Of The Daytona 500 Starts With A Massive 16-Car Crash, Plus Another Crash
Here’s what happens when NASCAR’s Cup Series tries to go four-wide at Daytona where there’s only space for three cars abreast: one huge crash. Jamie McMurray got a good run coming out of Turn 2 in the No. 1 car, going for the gap above Jimmie Johnson’s No. 48 car....

Leading a single-file line of Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race cars across the finish line after a wild amount of lead changes in the final laps, Kurt Busch won the 2017 Daytona 500 for Stewart-Haas Racing. He then proceeded to do a celebratory burnout across the infield grass, tearing...

Stage Breaks In NASCAR Make Me Feel Robbed Of Racing
After the first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series stage break of 2017, I just feel robbed. The first stage of today’s Daytona 500 ended on lap 60, and the second stage went green on lap 68. The caution break between stages eats up laps that count towards the race distance,...

The Crash Fest At Daytona Has Officially Begun
After more than a stage and a half of racing in the Daytona 500—that’s 105 laps in new-NASCAR talk—a tire went down on Kyle Busch’s car and spun the No. 18 around, collecting bunch of cars and tearing them up. Afterward, Busch blamed and served a major burn to NASCAR’s...

The Daytona 500 Just Won't Stop Wrecking
After a string of two crashes, the Daytona 500 has done it again with 59 laps to go.
