Porsche Should Have Made More Than 20 Group B 911 SC/RS Cars Because They Rule
Porsche Should Have Made More Than 20 Group B 911 SC/RS Cars Because They Rule-June 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:11:21

I know it’s a bold claim to make in today’s era of hyper-collectible, ultra-rare 911 variants, but I would have been totally fine if Porsche had made more than only 20 of these Group B 911 SC/RSes. They look and sound awesome and I need more. Just watch this rare Porsche slide around and you’ll understand.

This ultra-rare rally Porsche was based on the road-going 911 SC when it was built in 1984, only it had a lightened body with widened fenders and beefier suspension for taking sweet jumps, per . They came with a 3.0-liter flat-six engine that produced 255 horsepower, which sounded wonderful.

Here’s driver Enrico Melli in one of only twenty of these cars ever built ripping it up at the 2016 Monza Historic Rally Show. They may have been built for Group 4 and Group B rallying, but thank goodness, at least this one is still in use today.

I still think the world would be a better place if there were a few more of these, though. More! More.

When Rear-Engined Skodas Tore Up The 1981 Rally Acropolis
In the ‘80s, wasn’t a brand of Volkswagen rebadges, it was a little automaker from a Communist country that kept its motors in the back and its cars on the rally stage, even if they were never big contenders. I like that attitude. I like it a lot. In 1981,...

This Early Formula Drift Porsche 993 Is Shredding Tires In My Dreams
I didn’t expect when I went to sleep last night to wake up with a nostalgia for 2008, but somehow—thanks to this incredible Porsche drift car—that’s exactly what happened. Back then I was still in college and was consuming possibly even more automotive media than I do now, and I...

Go For A Spin In A Ford GT40 Why Don't You
It’s time for a mid-week pick-me-up. We’ve worked hard to get through Wednesday, so reward yourself by riding onboard this Ford GT40 for six raw minutes of flat-out hammer-down driving through the French countryside. These are honest-to-god narrow, tree-lined, dangerous-as-shit French roads that were closed down for the Tour Auto...
