Mark Webber was sore, but awake enough to release a statement following yesterday's. Webber is sore and recovering fine, although he has no recollection of the accident. Doctors say that the impact gave him a concussion.

Webber had this to say in a from Porsche this morning:

I'm quite sore this morning, am pretty bruised and have got a stinking headache. I've got no recollection of the accident or how it happened. The team is looking into the details to find out more. Thanks to the medical team at the track and here at the hospital, who did a great job and are looking after me very well.

On a positive note, it's great that the boys in the number 14 car managed to bring home the victory, which is a fantastic way to finish off the season. I'm already looking forward to getting out there again next year.

All we know is, the 919's safety cell design is brilliant considering the severity of this impact. Webber was in the number 20 Porsche 919 during the last hour of the World Endurance Championship's 6 Hours of Brazil when he lost control of the car and collided with the number 90 Ferrari run by Matteo Cressoni and the barriers lining the track.

Cressoni was largely unhurt, but also kept under observation at the Bandeirantes hospital near the track last night.

Porsche claims that they are still unclear as to what caused the accident.

Webber will remain in the hospital under observation and return home to the UK in a week.

Matteo Cressoni is being released from the hospital and will return home to Italy today. The WEC's calls him an "innocent victim" in the crash, leading us to believe the Porsche lost control first. Cressoni remembers the Porsche losing control, coming towards him and collecting him in the accident.
