Tesla Cybertrucks Keep Getting Stuck In Snow
Tesla Cybertrucks Keep Getting Stuck In Snow-April 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:09:13

The was announced as a revelation in four-wheeled capability. It was going to be , , , and also somehow . But now that the truck is finally out in the wild, it’s being forced to contend with a hazard no one could have foreseen: Snow.

It seems Cybertrucks have flown far from their Texan origin, and are now being found on the sort of snow-filled roads that . The trucks are most likely still out on those roads, because if footage from social media means anything, they sure as hell aren’t making it home.

Posts abound on Instagram, TikTok, and even what’s left of Twitter, showing Cybertrucks struggling with entirely normal amounts of snow. In the above video, posted to Instagram, a Cybertruck struggles with a modest snowy incline — fishtailing its way up the hill before coming to a halt. Based on other posts shared around the Internet, that truck appears to have later gotten a rescue.

Other videos, even dating back to before the Cybertruck’s release, show similar issues. One in particular shows a Release Candidate truck struggling with the barest dusting of snow while carrying a Christmas tree in California:

The problems facing the Cybertruck in snow are, in fairness, not the truck’s fault. Whether due to tread design, compound, or a combination of both, it appears the simply don’t have the grip to handle snowy roads. Yet, based on the Release Candidate footage, Tesla was clearly aware of the tires’ flaws before launch. Why give your first ten trucks those same flawed tires?

Was the extra range provided by hard-wearing rubber worth the aggravation of having a truck that doesn’t work for four months out of the year? Does the efficiency bonus from having make up for the lack of capability? As a lifelong Northeasterner, I don’t know that I’d make that trade.

At $3,200, Might This 1985 Ford LTD Interceptor Prove An Arresting Deal?
At $3,200, Might This 1985 Ford LTD Interceptor Prove An Arresting Deal?
In general terms, to say something is limited implies constraint, either in availability or capability. In the case of today’s LTD Interceptor, that limit is your imagination, and maybe, its price. It is my opinion that On Her Majesty’s Secret Service is the best of all the Bond movies. It...

Go Inside Ford's High-Tech CD-ROM Simulator From 1996
Car buyers today have it good. They have automaker websites, dealer websites and any number of car-buying tools at their disposal, to say nothing of the tons of on websites. Back in the 1990s, things were harder. “Research” meant print magazines, newspaper classified ads and just trusting that your salesperson...

The Dealer Doesn't Care If You Can't Afford Your Car
I know a few good salespeople who would rather lose a sale than put someone in a car that is going to strain the buyer financially. But that level of ethical sales is rare in the industry. There are far too many stores that will do whatever it takes to...

The 2018 Subaru Levorg Is A WRX Wagon For Grown-Ups
For all intents and purposes, the is a WRX wagon. It’s built on the same platform as the WRX, shares the same 300 horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged flat-four engine, has the same all-wheel drive system and is available with the same Lineartronic continuously variable transmission. Yet unlike the WRX, the CVT...

The 2019 Infiniti QX50 Hides A Fascinating Engine In Plain Sight
It looks like any other crossover, so you never know it from looking at it, but the has a technological marvel at its heart. Beneath that handsome but not especially controversial sheet metal lies the company’s new, a pretty fascinating piece of technology. But at the end of the day,...

At $5,300, Could You Form A Bond With This 1998 BMW Z3 Roadster?
At $5,300, Could You Form A Bond With This 1998 BMW Z3 Roadster?
Let’s be clear from the start, today’s Z3 is NOT the car from the movie Goldeneye, it just looks a lot like it. We’ll have to see if that familiarity, along with its price, has you shouting action! The Aspen is a species of tree. Many of the shade providers...
